- Altitude and altitude sickness Lhasa is 3,600 meters, Shigatse is 3,800 meters, Zedang is 3,400 meters, Mount Everest is 5,200 meters, Namtso is 4,900 meters, and Nyingchi is 3,000 meters. If you have poor physical strength, limited mobility, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, or asthma, please consider your own situation and carefully participate in this itinerary. Altitude sickness is a normal physiological reaction. Under normal circumstances, it takes 1-3 days to adapt to the local altitude and the discomfort disappears. Most tourists have mild symptoms and do not affect the itinerary. After adapting, they can easily handle the whole journey. A very small number of passengers will experience serious discomfort. No matter what happens, they need to communicate with the tour guide or driver to explain the situation during the trip.
- Tibetan toilet Most hotel toilets in urban areas are toilets, which are clean and hygienic. Most of the toilets in the scenic area are flush squat toilets, and some are non-flush dry toilets with poor conditions. If there are any hotels or towns during the itinerary, squat toilets will be provided. However, in some uninhabited areas, you will need to find bunkers on your own to solve the toilet problem.
- Weather and clothing in Tibet The weather in Tibet is changeable. There are four seasons in one day, different days ten miles away, and large temperature differences between day and night. Generally, it will be very warm if there is sunshine, it will be cooler on cloudy days, and the temperature will be lower at night. Summer in Tibet is the rainy season, with relatively much rain, while other seasons are the dry season, with sunny weather in most cases. When traveling in Tibet, we recommend the “Onion Dressing Method”, which involves dressing in multiple layers to make it easier to add and remove clothing at any time. You can wear single clothes in summer; wear at least three layers in spring and autumn, including a base layer, a sweater, and a jacket; in winter, you need to increase the warmth and wind resistance of your clothing.
- Transportation to Tibet The Qinghai-Tibet Railway train is currently the only train line entering Tibet. There are only 5 trains entering Tibet every day. Train sleeper tickets are limited. It is difficult to purchase in the peak season, but it is relatively easy to purchase in the off-season. Our company can purchase Qinghai-Tibet train tickets. Many cities have direct flights to Lhasa or Nyingchi, making it convenient and fast to enter Tibet. The altitude sickness caused by it is no different from the altitude sickness caused by train entering Tibet. Quick arrival is more convenient for tourists to enter the hotel to rest and adjust. There are even more discounts on air tickets during the off-season.
- Tibetan food There are many types of Tibetan restaurants, especially in cities, including Chinese, Western, Tibetan, Nepalese, etc. Tibetan food has a strong Tibetan flavor and is quite different from Chinese food in the mainland. It is recommended to try it. Vegetarians can travel in Tibet with confidence. Whether in the city or on the itinerary, restaurants and tour guides can help you recommend suitable dishes. Except for the free breakfast provided by the hotel in this itinerary, other dining expenses are not included in the group fee. Passengers can freely choose the type of dining according to their own preferences.
