Went on a Tuesday. Get an audio guide before entering. It’s near the lockers (which are 10NT to use, but you’ll get the money back once you’re done). No backpacks and water in Palace museum. It’s definitely something to skip if you don’t really like looking at endless porcelain, calligraphy, jade, and also the constant flood of tour groups talking loudly. The employees working at the National Palace carry signs asking for quiet, but no one cares. My FIL told me there used to be more pieces at this museum, like the famous “bai cai” but most have been moved. In short: you’re basically coming here to look at a bunch of things from China. The Shung Ye Museum was pretty empty, it’s more interactive, you click on videos and there’s a music area to select different songs. It’s quick to look at everything and watch the 10-15min movie at the end. Grab 3D glasses before entering. Movie plays every hour. Would I go again to both? No.

Need to collect ticket from Shung Ye Museum first which is slightly more troublesome. Shung Ye museum is a rather small Museum. National Palace Museum is on the other hand quite huge and has impressive collection. Combined tickets are quite worth from Klook with its open ticket feature.

Was guided to the correct line eventually. Don’t forget to leave backpacks in the check room before entering. Museums worth visiting. Be sure to visit their websites for updates before going.

amazing place! would bring my friends here on my next visit. although the inconvenience was getting the ticket at shungye instead if just showing the voucher to the museum.

Amazing collections of Chinese literatures, ceramics, paintings and many objects are inside this grand Palace. You should prepare half a day to tour around. The combo tickets are with the small tribal museum but it worths a visit. The 3D animation shows every hour. It is better to start here for an hour before the Palace Museum.

We took the MRT to Shilin station, then bus (see photo for bus number) to the museums. Both museums are a short walk away on the same street. Collected our tickets for both museums at the Shung Ye museum. No q, fast and easy. Admission is free for those below 17 years old at the National Palace museum. While for Shung Ye musuem, tickets is NTD100.

Apparently, anyone could do without the nearby Shung Ye Museum, especially discovering it’s quite difficult to spot and the locals know little of it, even if it’s just in the vicinity. But it’s a cute addition: harmless, nothing much of significance. You’re lucky if you’re able to make it out of its interactive theater in the basement without shutting your eye. The National Museum is another story, though. Grand and covering a lot of territory, a couple of hours isn’t enough to completely immerse yourself in the information, history and culture the place shares.

Highly recommended tour. The bus is very comfortable and safe with free water. The tour guide Irene Hsu is the best. She and the driver were very nice, accommodating and entertaining lost tourists. The tour was very on time. Great experience all in all.
