Japanese paper making experience with a Japanese paper craftsman (Hokkaido)

7-9 Osamuzonocho
  • Make two postcard-sized Japanese papers in two hours.
  • In the Ezo Japanese paper course, you can make only one paper in the world because the paper is made with materials from Hokkaido.
  • You can take home the Japanese paper you made as a souvenir.
  • You can purchase Japanese paper made by Japanese paper craftsmen at the gallery.

What to expect

You can make your own Japanese paper in Ebetsu, which is about 30 minutes from Sapporo. You can choose a plan from the “traditional course” where you can experience decoration techniques, and the “EZO-WASHI course” where you make Japanese paper using Hokkaido plants as raw materials. * All participants will experience the same plan. After the experience, you can take home two pieces of postcard-sized Japanese paper that you “paper made” yourself. Please experience the world of Ezo Washi, which was used as a message card for a global conference attended by ministers from various countries held in Hokkaido!
