What to expect
To get to know a city best, there's nothing like taking it from a casual, down-to-earth perspective that isn't restricted by elaborate tour plans. An English speaking guide will meet up with you and you will head to the Gateway of India and learn about this 20th century wonder, erected during the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. Then, on a bus or taxi, you'll head to the dazzling Gothic architecture of the C.S.T. Train station. It's a picture perfect spot you'll want to capture before you take a train in that same station to Dadar to see the local flower market. The Dadar flower market is one of the most famous markets in the city, lined with thousands of blooms. Then it's another train journey to Mahalxmi Station and see Dhobi Ghaat, the largest open air laundry in all of Asia. You'll take the train right back to Churchgate station and you'll get to watch the local Dabbawaalas, or lunch delivery men at work. These valuable, efficient individuals carry huge towers of lunchboxes that are purchased and eaten by a huge percentage of the workforce in Mumbai. This tour is a true taste of the local colors of Mumbai that gives you valuable insight into everyday life.

Reviews
Dinesh is a very good guide , English speaking well and willing to reply every question we ask, this tour is well organized and so many to see too, every part of what we join are so funny , and how Mumbai run business is so amazing
The day before departure, they proactively contacted me via WhatsApp to remind me to arrive on time. On the day of the activity, there were a total of five tourists, including myself. Because it was the rainy season, it rained heavily when we met in the morning. However, since we were traveling by train the whole time, it didn't affect the itinerary, and the rain subsided after we arrived at the laundry. After meeting at Churchgate Station, the tour guide, Alam, took us in order to (1) Mahalaxmi Station to see Dhobi Ghat Laundry, (2) Dharavi Slum at Mahim Station, and finally (3) back to Churchgate Station to see the Dabbawalas lunchbox deliverymen. The train arrangement was quite clever, skillfully avoiding the rush hour. The whole activity was very relaxed, and the explanations were very in-depth. It's a great way to quickly experience a side of Mumbai life in half a day.
Dinesh was a great guide and the tour was super interesting. We went on Sunday so seeing the lunch boxes were not an option but we saw the flower market, slums and the laundry which were really interesting. We also got to ride a train with open doors which my young son enjoyed. The tour got moved to start at 11am which was great as the 8am would have been a challenge. On Sunday things were quiet which was nice especially as we had a 4 year old with us.
We picked the option with transfer. We were picked up by a driver from our hotel who then dropped us off at Regal Cinema where our guide, Dawood, greeted us. He brought us to India Gateway, then we took the bus to the train station before taking the train to Dharavi. Dawood brought us around the area and showed us the businesses inside and how people lived there. Then, we took the train to Dhobi Ghaut, where we were guided by someone actually working as a Dobi inside. We were told that unless we took a guided tour, we wouldn’t have been able to enter - so we’re glad we did. Then we took the train back to where we started where we got to witness the Dabbawallas in action. All in all, it was an amazing experience and Dawood was very knowledgeable and fluent.
Today we went on the Mumbai Unplugged tour and also the Slum City tour. Alam was our tour guide. Alam was very friendly, very caring, very patient as well as extremely knowledgeable. Alam met us on time, showed us the Gateway to India, Flower market, laundry area as well as the lunchbox delivery. We then proceeded onto the Slum City. We travelled by bus and train. The tour was very well organised and we saw so much of Mumbai in 1 day, that we would normally not see by ourselves. We enjoyed our tour very much and we had a fantastic day, thanks to Alam. We would definitely recommend everyone visiting Mumbai to do these tours. Very good insite into life in Mumbai and very good value for money. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and tried a variety of local food which was delicious. Thank you so much Alam and best wishes for the future... Gary and Kellie from Australia

A must-do if you go to Mumbai. You can learn about the history of Mumbai through Dharavi, Dhobi Ghat, and Dabbawala. Since you'll be experiencing the lives of the local people, please participate with respect. Transportation is by train, which is also an interesting experience. The guide will explain everything in detail.
