What to expect
Located in the western outskirts of Kyoto, Arashiyama is famed for its beautiful scenery and well-preserved ancient royal court. Enter the former villa of late actor Okochi Denjiro, the Okochi Sanso Villa – take a stroll through the traditional Japanese garden rumored to be built by Denjiro as a picture of everlasting beauty (not the deteriorating beauty captured on film). Explore one of Kyoto's great Zen temples, the Tenryuji Temple – built in 1339 by the shogun Ashikaga Takauji in honor of the late Emperor Godaigo, with a number of vantage points offering the best views of Arashiyama. Complete your journey at iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, the 'Moon Crossing Bridge', known for beautiful reflections in the Oi River.

Reviews
amazing tour and amazing guide. our guide was very accommodating to us and our questions. the experience overall was perfect
Very nice tour. Our guide TK was very accommodating.
Pros: - the guide showed us the mountain Kameyo Mountain with a stunning view of the river and mountains - gave us a bit of the history of the garden Con - didn’t bring us to the bamboo kimono - guide has limited English The places were beautiful and must see! BUT You can go to this places without buying this tour. Don’t spend us much as we did! Plus the limited English of the tour guide did not satisfy our curiosity of the culture and history of the place. We had so many questions she had difficulty answering. The guide was nice, warm and tried his best to be very helpful. There were just words she found hard to comprehend and we just stop trying after a while. We were also hoping that since we have a guide, she can at least help us take nicer pics together rather than taking selfies or asking random strangers to take our pictures, BUT to no avail. Ended up taking selfies just so we can have nicer pictures 😥 Whatever we learned from the tour guide was not worth 12k 😥
Thank you for raising your concern to us. We sincerely regret to hear that you had unsatisfactory experience and we take your feedback extremely seriously. Your case has been noted and passed to the local operator for further improvement. Your understanding will be much appreciated.
The tour guide was really very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves!
The tour guide was on time and helpful, explaining all the history and culture in details. A perfect way to start your trip there.
Worthy tour for your itinerary! Though it would be better if tour starts earlier than 9am, the bamboo forest gets crowded.
Our tour guide, Ms Eml Matsuda, was a nice & friendly guide. Every place we went, she will explained the history to us. It was a great tour.
Private tour guide like our friends, our line of three people, followed him to travel Arashiyama, listen to his introduction to history, we also asked a lot of local things. This kind of private tour guide, although spent a lot, but worth it. And because it is not by coach, the next time they know how to appreciate the leaves.
Very good follow up from the tourist guide. He has called and left message at my hotel to ensure the correct waiting place and time. Recommended!
We had a slight confusion on the redemption of this voucher because it didn't exactly say what or who to look for. We were at Kyoto Central station by 9AM, but we didn't know if we're supposed to claim the voucher on a kiosk, meet a person, or look for a tour bus. We spent around 45 minutes trying to find how to claim the voucher. When we decided to just go ahead on our own, we finally found our tour guide by the train station with a placard with my name on it. Would've saved all that time if we knew who or what to look for. Also, the local numbers indicated on the vouchers weren't working. :( Fortunately, despite the confusion, our tour guide Yuki was very patient and fluent in English. She took us to all the nice spots in Arashiyama and told a lot of history and trivia which we would've not known without a tour guide. She definitely made the mishap and trouble very worth it!

Insider Tips:
- Arashiyama is particularly picturesque during the cherry blossom season (early April) and mid-autumn (second half of November) season. In December, lanterns line the streets and bamboo groves during the Hanatoro illluminatio
