I have to give it 5-stars based on value for your money. Seniors (65+) and primary school kids are free, and adults are less than $2! I paid extra for the little zoo tram as it was crazy hot, hundreds of school kids, and the monkeys are no joke! stole a water bottle right out of a boy’s hand in a big school group (ran off with it)! The best part was the water area, like a splash pad. Although older and rundown, it did the job of cooling us off. There’s 3 areas, with rain water coming from above, and two shallow areas maybe 1-4 inches of water. Animals weren’t too active due to heat/sun. Don’t recommend eating here as not many options, nor good quality.

Fantastic 5.0
Shoushan Zoo's park design is fantastic, making it a great place for families to have fun even on hot summer days. The elevated skywalk connecting to indoor air-conditioned viewing rooms is especially convenient, allowing families to comfortably watch capybaras, alpacas, Formosan black bears, and other adorable animals in an air-conditioned environment. It's also a great place to take a break when you're tired of walking around. We recommend arriving early in the morning when the zoo opens because that's when the animals are most active, eating breakfast, looking for food, drinking water, and full of energy. They aren't hiding from the heat yet, so you can see all the animals in their full glory. In particular, the white tiger, Zhao Hai, will walk around in the morning as if he is strutting on a runway, which is very interesting. The zoo also offers a limited amount of free hay for feeding the lambs and other animals in the feeding area. In addition, there is a fairly large children's water play area with rinsing facilities near the park entrance. For dining, there are two restaurants serving burgers, fried food, set meals, drinks, and desserts with a minimum charge. With such affordable ticket prices and a comfortable layout, including Shoushan Zoo in your Kaohsiung itinerary is definitely worth it. Backpackers can take bus number 56 from Kaohsiung Main Station or MRT Yanchengpu Station. New Klook users can enter referral code RP9HSD to get $100 off their first purchase for even greater savings!

The zoo has been renovated and reopened for a while now. I am looking forward to going in and seeing what has changed. It has been more than 10 years since I last went to the zoo. The ticket price is really very cheap. I was afraid that I would have to wait a long time to buy the ticket, so I bought it on Klook first. You only need to scan the QR code to enter. The ticket price on Klook is the same as buying tickets on site, but the platform allows you to use cool coins for discounts. It is very convenient to go there by public transportation or on your own. The motorcycle parking area is the habitat of wild macaques. I saw many people put wooden bars to block the carriages. After asking the tourists who were hiking, I learned that the macaques are too smart. If the carriage cannot be closed, they will use wooden bars to block it, otherwise it will be turned upside down. There are plenty of parking spaces in the car park and the parking fee is quite cheap. There is a skywalk in the zoo. I remember the entrance was designed in the shape of an animal, but now it has a design feel. I originally wanted to have a meal in the Light Room, but the entrance time happened to be meal time and the weather was pretty good, so the room was already full of tourists. Come again next time if you have the chance! I also bought zoo magnets as a souvenir this time😂

Went there in early December, great place! However, at the motorcycle parking area, it is said that Taiwanese macaques will lift up the seat cushions, so everyone puts branches to block the cushions to prevent it! From the entrance that you have not entered, there are Taiwanese macaques wandering around! Super close! In the center of the park is a paddling pool. Children and adults can play in the water when the weather is hot. There are shower rooms and lockers. The animals in the park, the herbivorous ones, are basically friendly to each other, but the parrot park happens to be under renovation and maintenance, so it’s a pity that you can’t interact with the parrots! Another bird garden contains ducks, geese, Egyptian holy eagles and a bunch of peacocks. If you are lucky, you can have peacocks walking around the garden with you! It is highly recommended for adults and children who like animals to play! Although the park is smaller than Muzha, it is very walkable and has many interactive animals!

Fantastic 5.0
Shoushan Zoo is a delightful destination for families and animal lovers. The zoo is nestled in a scenic location with lush greenery, making it a pleasant spot to explore. The enclosures are well-maintained, and the animals appear healthy and well cared for. Highlights include the Formosan black bear and the diverse range of primates. Informative signs and interactive exhibits provide educational value, especially for children. However, some areas could use more shade and seating for added comfort. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth visit. Overall, Shoushan Zoo offers an enjoyable and affordable outing for visitors of all ages.

my parents and I enjoyed our visit to the zoo. easy to enter using the QR provided. the layout of the zoo is just a bit confusing and it took us around 2 hours to go around. just note that wild monkeys are present so keep food and drinks inside the bag at all times. the bus also comes once every hour.

Fantastic 5.0
When I stepped into the gate of Shoushan Zoo, I was greeted by the rich atmosphere of the animal world, among which monkeys became the first thing I was attracted to. They play among the trees, displaying a high degree of flexibility and intelligence. Observing their behavior, I seemed to feel a wonderful vitality, which fascinated me deeply. And next, I came to the zebra area. The zebra's black and white stripes sparkle in the sunlight, forming a beautiful natural picture. They walked harmoniously on a green grassland, as if dancing among the beating notes. Such a scene outlines the harmonious beauty of nature and makes me feel the cherishment and respect for ecological balance. I then moved onto the black bear area. The black bear stretched its limbs lazily and yawned contentedly. Their cute behavior makes people burst into laughter. However, apart from the laughter, I also deeply understand the significance of wildlife conservation, and we need to work hard to protect this natural home that belongs to them. Finally, I walked into the bird area. The peacock blooms with colorful feathers like a rainbow, showing gorgeous beauty. When a peacock opens its tail, it seems that the entire zoo becomes more colorful. This beautiful moment not only made me admire the wonder of nature, but also deepened my awe for the diversity of life. Overall, this trip to the zoo was a baptism of senses and soul. Through encounters with monkeys, zebras, black bears and peacocks, I not only learned about animals, but also realized that we are closely related to nature and need to work together to protect this beautiful and diverse earth.
