What to expect
The year before the Shimen Reservoir was put into use in 1964, it was hit by Typhoon Gloria, which instantly brought nearly 20 million cubic meters of silt into the Shimen Reservoir. Whenever there were heavy rains or typhoons, silt was continuously brought into the Shimen Reservoir. About 20 years after the reservoir was put into use, the reservoir’s lifespan turned red, but its appearance extended the reservoir’s lifespan, which is the “Sedimentation Basin.” This is a special little trip where adults and children alike can immerse themselves in the joy of shared experiences by painting and firing reservoir-mud cows. By walking through the Sedimentation Basin, parents and children can come into contact with new perspectives.
