Seoul Hongdae Photo Studio Experience

The Studio is close to Hongdae station, just 5-min away. It’s located in the basement so you’ll have to look for its sign when you walk by. The photo-shooting experience is fun! If you don’t have appropriate outfit it’s fine, you can rent their for free. However, don’t expect their clothes are very clean (I found some stains on the shirt). The makeup and hairstyling took around 1 hour. Photo-shooting took only about 10mins. You will also get to see how your photo is being photo-shopped. You will get your passport size photos printed out right away. I went there at 10:30am and left the shop at around 12:15pm.

It was my first time to take a Korean-style ID photo. I had to wear makeup and hair. The makeup was very Korean😆. The makeup was very beautiful and very careful. I knew how to choose the makeup color that suits me, and there were clothes to change!

Highly recommend this amazing team! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful right from the start. There was a language barrier, but the staff did a fantastic job translating between me, the stylist, and the photographer. My makeup and hair turned out beautiful. I picked out a wedding dress I absolutely loved, but I was worried it might be too large and wouldn't fit me. However, the staff encouraged me to try it and successfully fit me into it beautifully! During the photo shoot, the photographer and the staff were so supportive, coaching me through poses before taking the shots, making me feel at ease. Because of them, I got to see myself in different angles and expressions. It was a wonderful experience.

The location is relatively convenient as it is near Hongik University subway station, but the store is located on the B1 floor and it may be a little difficult to find the back left. The reception is because Taiwanese people don't wash themselves and worry about communication. The photographer will always teach you how to manage your expressions. Finally, you can choose a photo and sit down. I'm very satisfied with the effect when I watch the Prime Minister arrive in Li next to me.

I had an amazing experience from start to finish! The makeup was absolutely on point—it enhanced my features beautifully while still looking natural and elegant. The artist was skilled, attentive, and knew exactly what suited me. The photoshoot was equally impressive. The photographer made me feel comfortable and guided me through the poses, and the final photos turned out absolutely fantastic. Very pleasant experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They do editing of the pictures so, if you don't like it too much, just tell them. Definitely recommend the place since the styling, the photographer and the staff was very attentive.

I did the makeup+hair and profile photo set. The makeup was done amazing, even without photo touchups it looked amazing in the raw photos. I had brought my own foundation since I like a specific formula and they used it no problem. Hair styling is simple, but thats all you need. For the photo session the photographer goes over what style you want-full body,upper body,hands in frame/not in frame, colour backrounds etc. Directions for posing are very easy to follow and you can see the photos live as he takes them. If needed to adjust clothing hems near the chest area (my top shifted a bit after one of the poses) he has the female workers do it. once the phots are taken you go through them and select which one you want to be edited. They do have a rack of clothes you can use if you want something specific, but sizes will be limited. I knew this going in and as a plus size made sure to bring my own tops 100% recomend if you want a experience for a good value

In fact, it’s not far from Hongdae’s business district. Compared to taking the subway to Hongdae, it’s closer by taking a bus and it’s not hard to find. Opposite is a Chinese restaurant, Fragrance Pavilion. If you finish taking photos at noon and wait for photos, you can go there. Eat fried noodles. As soon as you arrive in the basement, you will be greeted by a Taiwanese girl who will ask you about the purpose of the photo. If it is a document, she will remind you to pay attention to it. The whole shooting process is very fast, because I have no problem with picking obstacles. It was completed in about 30 minutes. And wait another 2 hours to get the photos (an electronic file will be sent to you within these 2 hours). Since I put on my own makeup, I’m not sure how good the makeup artist is, but I saw someone applying makeup on site, and I was still doing it from the time I arrived to the time I left (probably because I was very careful). After taking the photo, you will first look at the retoucher next to you to see how to roughly retouch your facial features. After you determine the direction, you can let the retoucher refine your skin and leave first. When I received the photo, I found that although it had been beautified a lot, it was not distorted overall. Seeing that the new ID showed me beautifully, the cost was well worth it.

I was a little nervous before going, worried about poor communication or not taking good photos because I was too stiff, but the actual experience was great! There was a Taiwanese employee who spoke Chinese assisting with coordination; although the makeup artist would apply makeup directly based on the photos and purpose of the shoot, you could make requests; the male photographer provided guidance and positive praise during the photo shoot, and if you have a style or pose you want to shoot, you can find reference photos for the photographer. I got some pretty good and unique headshots as a result! Highly recommend!

We chose the passport package. They will ask you whether it's for a passport or for an interview, and will adjust the makeup and hair according to your needs. There is only one makeup artist, so if there are multiple people together, you'll need to wait a bit. It takes about 20-30 minutes per person. My friends who came with me were very satisfied with the eye makeup. After the photoshoot, you can choose a photo for the teacher to retouch. You can watch the retouching process, and the photo is only printed after you confirm that you're happy with it. There's a Chinese-speaking woman on-site to help with communication. She's very friendly and professional, so don't worry if you don't speak Korean. Overall, it was a great experience.
