Good to know
On the day of your trip, get picked up from your accommodation and drive to Krabi Elephant Care House at the foot of Khao Phanom Bencha mountain in just 15 minutes. You will be met by an English-speaking guide and learn about the their behavior, what they eat, and their individual stories.
Watch them enjoy their mud spa and join them. The elephants apply mud on their skin as a healthy sunscreen and mud treatment. Next, walk with the elephants, bathe them, and join them in the water for a refreshing cool-off. Brush the elephants while they frolic and play in the water and watch them enjoy being pampered. Feed them pineapples and bananas, and observe these gentle giants as they enjoy their newfound freedom.
The elephants belong to the locals and are treated like a family. A strong belief in human-elephant interaction is what makes Krabi Elephant House so special. You are able to have a life-enhancing experience with these magnificent animals and learn about them in a natural and relaxed environment.
At midday you will strengthen yourself with a healthy Thai style meal at the sanctuary prepared from the local cook, so that you will be ready for the afternoon activity.
Continue to Tiger Cave Temple, a sacred site which is well-known for its exceedingly steep and sweaty ascent with 1237 steps. You will be rewarded with an outstanding view over Krabi’s limestone rocks and coastal area. But also, the main “Tiger Cave” and the “wonderland” rainforest, are very interesting and worth seeing.
Reviews
This is very well organized trip, excellent timely pick up and transport back. The park is wonderful, elephants are magnificent and you get really close to them. They are looked after very well, and they are loved. Like pets to the family that owns the Care House. Lunch has been delicious and Tiger Cave is amazing. The Budda op top of the mountain is only very difficult to reach, 500m steep up the mountain 1206 huge steps. Be prepared. But general feeling is very well. You are very well guided. Highly recommended 🙏
It was a lovely day and very well organised. The elephants appeared to be happy and well cared for. There were no chains or any sticks insight. Would definately recommend 👌
A great day out, washing the elephants is a must and the hike up to the Tiger Cave Temple is pretty physical but worth it for the view, your legs will thank you the next day. 😉
What a great experience being up close with the elephants! You get to prep some food, give them a mud bath and then a spa scrub. They are treated humanely and were very used to being around people. A deeply moving tour. The Tiger temple stair climb is no joke! You will feel the burn. There are toilets along the way and a water refill station at the top. The views are incredible!
a great experience! The elephants seemed to be doing very well, the staff treated the animals and us with great respect. We were very satisfied, and everything went well with the transfer. The way up to the Buddha is not for the faint-hearted. Another tourist told us that it took him 1.5 hours to get to the top, including breaks. Our second driver (there is no guide to the top) also warned us that it would take at least an hour to get up and an hour to get down. We made it up in 36 minutes and 20 minutes to get down. But it's a nice feeling when you've done it and the view is great too.
we were a small group for 2-3 elephants during the activity. the river bath was really great. the meal was generous and good. our driver waited for us 90 minutes at the temple to give us the chance to climb all the way to the top. the view is magnificent
This was a very memorable and wonderful experience. The guide was very helpful and even took pictures for us, which we really appreciated. The elephants are not kept in captivity, and it was clear that they are genuinely cared for. Getting to apply mud on the elephants, feed them, walk with them, and bathe them was an amazing experience. The Tiger Cave climb was challenging for me because I had injured my leg a few days earlier, but I still managed to reach the top. Some sections have very steep stairs, but taking breaks after a few flights helped a lot. Overall, it was a rewarding experience and one I would definitely recommend.
Really a nice guide with information in order. He was a fresh and natural guide. Big thnx. Elephants here were calm and relax and easy to feed and mudscrip. elephant had own jungle time after we left. that the way to get them in shape again.
Had fun learning, interacting and walking with elephants. Only it is raining the whole day and it makes experience less favorable.
great experience. very friendly and helpful guide. very nice with kids as well, as the elephants were very gentle
