After exchanging your ticket at the pier, you'll receive a paper wristband. Once you put it on, you'll wait to board the boat. Upon arrival, there will be someone with a camera at the entrance as you disembark. These are for the park's paid photo service, and you can pick up your photos at the souvenir shop at the end. The tour guide speaks both Malay and English. They will ask if you have your own guide; if not, they will explain things in rotation at each stop. The orangutans in the park have distinct and very entertaining personalities, and you can really feel the park's dedication. There's a feeding area where you can bring a few bananas to feed them. The electric fence is indeed live; although it's a low current, you'll still feel a jolt if you touch it.
just finished this excursion and it was amazing!! The orangutans were so much closer than we expected and had so much freedom to roam! our guide was super knowledgeable and very friendly :)
What a fantastic sanctuary doing awesome work for orangutans! Arrive 10 min before, go straight to the jetty and show them the Klook QR code. The sanctuary takes donations so be generous in helping the wonderful orangutans!
Amazing experience with picturesque Boat ride to island. Saw the Orang Utans, and we were behind cages. The keepers entice the Apes with small treats, but they foriage 80% of food on island. Humbling experience and shows the inhumanity we have wrought upon our genetic cousins. Support this so a few individuals who are kept here can support those in the wild.
This is such an amazing initiative to support. We saw so many orangutans in their natural habitat and learned so much from the lovely and knowledgeable guide. Even the boat ride to and from was a treat. I highly recommend this experience for all visitors to Peninsula Malaysia. Let's all do our part and be generous, 100% of all the money goes into this very worthy cause.
Go early. Take some fruit along with you and buy something from the very reasonably priced gift shop. They are doing great conservation work. You won't get as close as in Sarawak, but that's good for the orangutans.
It was wonderful to see the orangutans up close and living freely. The downside was that there was almost no shade, so it was very hot. No English guide was available (only Malaysian guides for Malaysian visitors). Although we had booked a boat slot, we were told we could only take the next boat. It seems you must arrive strictly 10 minutes before departure.
The facility itself is a good thing, which is why I don't really want to give it a bad review. But: We had a journey of more than an hour from Ipoh to and from. You spend a maximum of 30 minutes on the island itself - probably less. The mesh tunnel you go through is about 100-200 m long and there are more meshes to the animals, so you can't take photos (through 2 consecutive meshes). So we were pretty disappointed. The employees are very nice and one of them took photos for us so that we didn't just have meshes in the pictures. If it's on the way - fine. I wouldn't drive there especially.
Orang utan looks happy. They’re free to roam part of the island. However, the place requires some maintenance especially the cage area. In terms of conservation, they’re doing a really good job. In terms of eco tourism, i believe they can do more although it’s not the priority
highly recommended, a great experience to see orangutan up close and learn about the conservation efforts.
