What To Expect

Tea has been a fundamental part of Chinese culture, tracing its roots in the country's history as far back as 5,000 years ago. There are over 1,000 different types of tea currently being cultivated in China. The process of making tea is quite similar to that of ancient times, and many local people still regard drinking it as an indispensable part of their daily lives. In this 2-hour class at The Courtyard Institute, you’ll get a better grasp of China’s rich tea history, sample unique variations, and gain basic knowledge on how to prepare for and set up a traditional tea ceremony. You’ll learn proper etiquette for when you are invited to one, such as light finger tapping (a customary gesture for thanking the tea server) and napkin folding (to keep bad Qi energy away). You'll also know the required vessels and utensils such as teapot, tea pitcher, cups and saucers, "cha he" or strainer, and teaspoon. By the end of the class, you’re on your way to making that perfect cup of tea!

The courtyard tour is very detailed. Compared with Hutong paid visits to a person for 20 yuan, the introduction here is more adequate. Tea ceremony can experience different tea flavors and recommend it to interested friends.
