Discover Vientiane on this fantastic cycling retreat, passing through picturesque rice fields, mountains, and the Phou Khao Khouay National Protected Area. Your day will start early with a pick up from your hotel. From the city, you'll be brought via tuk-tuk or truck, along with your bikes, to Ban Tanmixay village. The quaint village is located just 25 minutes from the city and will be the starting point of the cycling tour. Cycle on the newly paved road, and all the way to River Time Resort at the Nam Ngum river, where you'll take a break and enjoy some refreshments. Pick up your lunch boxes from the resort's kitchen, then take a ferry down the river for 30 minutes all the way to Ban Thadindeng, a Hmong village. There, you'll get some time to explore the village before hopping back on your bikes to continue cycling on a dirt road in the midst of beautiful rice fields. Pass through Ban Thakai, then continue on to Ban Tontam where you'll eat your well-deserved picnic lunch at the "sala" (meeting hall) of the village. Once you're done with lunch , ride to Ban Thakokhai to take the ferry all the way to Ban Pako Resort. There, you'll take another boat to go upstream to Ban Somesamai, where your truck or tuk-tuk will be waiting to take you back to Vientiane. If time permits, you can even have an extra stop at Wat Veunphan temple for a short visit!
