No visit to Finland would be complete without trying your hand at snowshoeing, a one-of-a-kind activity that's at least 3,500 years old! Get picked up at your hotel in Rovaniemi, then drive off toward the wilderness, where you'll receive basic snowshoeing tips and interesting trivia from your English-speaking expedition guide. Hop off the minivan and put on a pair of high-quality snowshoes, made specifically for hiking in the deep snow, which you can use to explore the surrounding areas. Wander through the wilderness of Northern Finland and marvel at the stunning natural wonders around you, such as tall mountains and the trees completely covered in snow. If you're lucky, you might even get to spot some animal footprints and maybe even some of the elusive Finnish wildlife as well! Once you're done snowshoeing, you can warm up inside a wooden shelter and enjoy some hot drinks and snacks by the crackling campfire outside it. You'll also be guided by a professional photographer, who will also teach you some tricks and techniques for your own landscape and nature photography.
