This is a beautiful step into nature, away from the bustling Georgetown. There is a restaurant located right beside it where you can have meals, and if you come at the right time, they even have real monkeys that you can watch and even interact with while dining! The trail comes with an audio guide and a map so you can explore the garden at your own pace, while having an explanation of the different plants, herbs, and spices. I spent up to 2 hours in this garden, there is just so much to observe and explore. At the end of the trail where you return your audio guide is also the gift shop. There is a whole range of herbs and spices sold, as well as aromatics, batik prints, and natural products made by locals, etc. Everything is quite reasonably priced and worth the money! Do note that this place will have mosquitoes and insects, so if you are worried do prep yourself with insect repellant/patches. The staff at the front counter also provide you with some natural repellant concocted out of the herbs in the garden. There are also water features so you can step into water/slippery surfaces, do consider proper footwear for safety. 😊

This was a great activity. Very easy to obtain tickets from the counter. Mosquito repellent was offered as well.

The tropical spice garden is a must visit in Penang, particularly if you are a foodie. it was great to learn about the different spices and herbs. Tickets were cheaper through Klook and the redemption was quick and easy. I would recommend the thai restuarant on the premises- great food and a spectacular view.

excellent way to spend time in penang. the garden has lots of nooks and crannies and also caters well for children eg jungle swing, hammock, stream. it is shaded and relatively cool. the gift shop is lovely as well although prices are high. sadly it's not wheelchair or stroller accessible

We love the lemon glass tea for travelers and the arrangements for tourist. The bus was convenient to drop us in front of the garden. The place was ok

very interesting place to visit with family. the most important thing to remember is ask for a guide. He will explain most og spice plants.
  • Huyen Anh 12 Jul 2018
Very interesting visit with a detailed audioguide that gives many informations about tropical trees, spices, flowers in the garden. Audioguide exists in many languages: english, french, chinese, bahasa, etc., it's very practical. Voucher purchased per Klook (21RM/ adult) is cheaper than the ticket buy directly in the garden (29RM/ adult)

It's fun going 2ith a group of friends. However, without a tour guide it can be quite boring just seeing greens. We used the audio but the dialogue is quite lengthy. Not suitable for the elderly with mobility problem. mosquito spray is provided but advisable to bring your own.
