Reviews
The tour guide was wonderful and very kind, ensuring a truly enjoyable day. I especially enjoyed the train market. I hopped on an individual boat as soon as we reached the floating market, experiencing a wonderful tour of the river. I grew up in New York, where we had many fireflies, so I didn't necessarily need to see them again, but I believe others truly appreciated it, especially those who haven't experienced fireflies in their lives as I did as a child. Overall, it was a great trip, and the tour guide was wonderful. I highly recommend it.
Origonal I think it should be so so because I have visited railway market and another float market. Nut Guide Thai is so good and leaded us to see a lot of firefly. Today we charted a boat and just paid 40 baht everyone. It is a good trip and must got 5 stars.
I participated in a small group tour with hotel pick-up. A clean van with three rows of seats picked us up earlier than the scheduled time of 12:00 PM. I was worried about getting motion sickness because the van smelled of incense, but I quickly got used to it and was fine. Our family of four (two adults and two children) sat in one row of three seats, and then we picked up another couple and set off. After everyone was together, the guide introduced themselves and gave a brief explanation of the itinerary. I dozed off until we reached the Maeklong Railway Market. After arriving, we were given a detailed explanation of where the restrooms were, the train's arrival time, and the meeting point, and then we had free time. My children disliked the fishy smell of the Maeklong Market, so we strolled around a bit and then waited for the train to arrive at a cafe along the tracks, enjoying the cool air. I imagined that they would clear away the awnings and shelves along the tracks just before the train passed, but everyone started clearing things away quite a while before. After gathering back together, we headed to Wat Bang Kung temple. Along the way, the guide explained that we crossed the Maeklong River several times and pointed out roadside stalls selling coconuts and other items. At the temple, they gave us a very detailed explanation, and they even bought and distributed gold leaf for us to offer, explaining that we should stick it to the Buddha statues. They explained it with great enthusiasm, but my English proficiency is low, so I honestly didn't understand much. Next, we headed to the Amphawa Floating Market. We were told that the chances of seeing fireflies that day were low, so we were offered the option of waiting for the fireflies or visiting another temple. At the Amphawa Floating Market's firefly ticket booth, my family and another group chose to wait for the fireflies, and we agreed to meet again at 6:30 PM. We spent the next hour and a half exploring the Amphawa Floating Market and having dinner. There are many open-air restaurants, so you can go to any of them, but the one we went to was a failure. There were a lot of flies at that restaurant, and the juice we ordered (which probably came from another shop) never arrived. It was still bright at 6:30 PM when we boarded the boat for the firefly watching tour. The boat went from the market to the river, showed us the riverside shops and villa constructions, and then headed to the area with the trees where the fireflies were. Countless fireflies, smaller than I imagined, were perched on the trees like Christmas lights. Occasionally, they would fly to the boat and land on our hands. We were able to see the fireflies in the dark for about 15 minutes of the one-hour boat ride, but it was a very memorable scene.
The itinerary was very good. Would have liked a little more time at the railway market and a little less time at Amphawa but overall a great experience and the tour made it very easy. A good mix of tour and self-visit at each location. The guide was the only small let down as he was not particularly engaging. He did offer to take nice photos though and did that well.
Really enjoyed our tour to see the Maeklong Railway and Amphawa Floating market. To be honest, I was a bit reluctant to book this one as I was expecting it would be a typical mediocre group tour experience where the tour guide is just going through the motions and is just trying to make it to the end of the day so they could go home. But I did not feel that at all here, and this was actually quite a fun and unique tour. Yes, these places do attract a ton of foreign (and sometimes pushy) tourists, cause everyone wants to see these famous attractions, but that's true of many places in Thailand, and I didn't think it was too terrible so long as you set your expectations accordingly. I thought the tour struck a good balance and distribution of time spent in a variety of places, and overall was a great value for what you get. I also really appreciated Jack as a guide - he was friendly, funny, guided us through some local traditions that we each got to do ourselves, gave us background information and context on the places we visited, and I felt he was good about periodically checking in on everyone in our group throughout the tour to make sure everyone was doing well. He was a very attentive guide, and I felt he significantly contributed to a wonderful experience.
Highly recommended! Niranya and our assigned driver are very accommodating and welcoming, very friendly. Worth the while. We should've booked earlier so we met our tripmates early on. Cheaper than other options checked. Must book! Thank you very much! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great experience! You can choose this package if you are in a small-scale group like us - 3 persons. Our tour guide - Nina, is superb! she is nice and friendly. She shares a lot of local cultural activities with us, especially at the temple site. We also have a chance to watch the fireflies swarming in the trees when having a boat trip at the Amphawa floating market. This package is worth a try!
The trip is really worth it. Start from 11am - 9pm Firefly watching Boat ride was 2hr 😍 Hope we have more time at Rail Market than Amphawa Market (3hr there is too much) Our guide is very fun and lovely. We wasn’t bored at all despite the long tour.
niranya was our tour guide. very helpful and friendly guide. a lot to see especially the train market. the train really goes super near you. and the fireflies tour and temples tour was good too..
Jacky is great and take good care of me during this trip. He gave detailed explanations about the Thai history. He also gave good recommendations to the food. Overall it’s a great tour and I strongly recommend to do it.
