What To Expect

A wealth of mesmerizing historical and cultural heritage locations can be found all over Japan. This Nikko day tour takes you to the best and most significant World Heritage sites. From your pick up point, you will depart from Tokyo to Nikko, where your first stop will be the Nikko Toshogu Shrine. This ancient edifice is where one of the famous figures in Japanese history rests: Tokugawa Iyeasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled for 250 years. Learn all about Japanese culture and history from a visit to this heritage shrine, as well as gain a better understanding of the shogunate system of government at the time. After lunch, you'll head to Lake Chuzenji for a quick visit and see the thrillingly beautiful panorama scenery. This splendid lake view overlooking the beautifully protected natural lands is the perfect place to take your photographs. Then you will head to Kegon Falls at the center of the Chuzenji hot springs area. With its pinnacle at 97m, this is considered the highest major waterfall in all of Japan. And as a bonus: on the opposite reaches of the falls, there lies a small village of tourist shops, giving you the chance to shop for souvenirs while taking in the beauty of the waterfall! This tour is a wonderful eye-opening experience to the history and natural beauty of Japan.

Love the tour, the included lunch was marvellous, our guide-Take explained us very clearly with good english

Honestly not really worth it if you aant to enjoy Nikko. Our guide Joe was amazing, but joining a bus tour is just too limiting. You don’t have enough time to appreciate the whole of Nikko and the traffic for the bus is a huge waste of time. I suggest just getting a train pass and a bus pass within Nikko if you can walk.

Beautiful temples, lakes, waterfall. We were blessed with good weather. A few points for improvement - there was a huge traffic jam near the entrance of the shrine. We could have gotten off the bus earlier to walk in order to save more time. There was also no antipyretic in the bus. It would be good if some could be stocked for guests who have a fever or are unwell.

The tour guide is very lively and helpful. The trip is not complete without her explaination and information. Her knowledge is very good.

Nikko is far from Tokyo, it will take you around 4 hours by bus. I recommend for you to go there by train instead to save time. Book this tour only if you are interested into History, Temples and Shrines, because if you are not, you will not enjoy this tour. It will make you feel that you are in a field trip with your professor narrating to you the history of Japan. You will only spend few minutes in the Lake (10 minutes) and Kegon falls (30 minutes).
