What To Expect

Paris, the legendary city of arts, is so rich in literary history and inspiration that it has spawned so many of the world's most famed and influential authors and philosophers. This three hour walking tour takes you to its most significant literary stops with your guide telling you fascinating information about each one. Your first stop is to meet your guide at the legendary Cafe de Flore, one of the oldest coffeehouses in Paris and a popular stop for famous writers, philosophers and artists. You will walk to the Left Bank of Paris, which is symbolic of Paris' leanings towards the arts. This area represents the Paris that the world knows, of artists and writers. Among the famous artists that have come from this area are Jean Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Gertrude Stein. Then you'll head to the Odeon, where Silvia Beach first began the Shakespeare Company, which has since become one of Paris' most famed bookstores and a sort of sanctuary for artists. You will get to pass by the famous Sorbonne University, one of the most elite of its kind in the world, which has produced an incredible 12 Nobel Laureates and 7 Field Medalists. Then you'll head on an exploration of the Latin Quarter of Paris, full of lively student life and bistros full of artists. You will even see the Pantheon found in the Latin Quarter, where many famous and distinguished personages from France are now entombed. Your tour will end with an experience visiting the famous Shakespeare and Company bookshop as you immerse yourself in the literary richness of Paris.
