Must-Visit Attractions
Dongji Island:
- Bagua Mountain and Eye of Dongji: The basalt located on the north side of the pier has a round, eye-shaped rock, hence the name.
- Old House Settlement: A Penghu-style settlement built with sea sand, basalt, and coral stone, a must-visit for photo opportunities.
- Dongji Lighthouse: Dongji Island is close to the Black Water Trench, and shipwrecks were frequent in the early years. Therefore, the lighthouse was built in 1911 to improve navigation safety in the local waters. The lighthouse is located on the northern part of the island, 47 meters above sea level, and is the highest point on the island. It is an important landmark for ships traveling through the Black Water Trench.
Blue Cave Cruise:
- There is a sea cave north of Xiji Island, which has been severely eroded by sea winds and seawater, forming a semi-open cave. After sunlight refraction, you can see the blue and clear seawater from the cave entrance. The landscape is breathtaking and has the beautiful name of Blue Cave. Because there are currently no wharf facilities, it is impossible to land on the island and is affected by legal regulations, tides, and weather factors, it is not possible to enter the cave every time, which makes the Blue Cave even more mysterious and a popular attraction for many people.
East Yu Ping:
- Qichi Men Beach: Named after its east-west span of about 500 meters, like a person’s seven-foot body. The beach is composed of beach rock, sand, and conglomerate, suitable for intertidal zone observation.
- Lavender Forest Coral Reef: Purple staghorn coral reef sea, a seasonal beauty limited to April-September. After the restoration of the national park, South Penghu Marine National Park has a super high coral coverage.
