I went on a one day introduction to rock climbing course - I'd climbed before overseas and CMRCA blew me away with how rigorous they were with our safety and well they guided us during the day. The guides were outgoing and friendly, knew the climbs extremely well and were good at adjusting their instruction if I didn't immediately understand. I thought it was telling that they stayed with the group while we had lunch - after a day's instructing I could understand them needing a break but they continued to banter and introduce us to what their life is like in Thailand. The food provided is delicious and I really appreciated the company's commitment to environmental sustainability - they provide reusable water bottles and lunch boxes and have developed an app that reveals where safe water taps are available in Chiang Mai to refill your bottles. The pride they take in the Crazy Horse buttress is obvious and they've put a lot of work into improving and maintaining the area. I'm not a great climber, but CMRCA ensured I had a great time and managed climbs I would not have thought I could have done before that day!
We are a couple in our twenties with very little experience rock climbing. We signed up for a day of private guiding with Ooan. Ooan picked us up from our hotel, drove us to the crag, and fitted us with rental gear included in the cost. We climbed several different lines, increasing in difficulty, and Ooan did an excellent job of keeping everyone safe. He was detail-oriented and thorough in safety checks and advice. He also managed to keep both of us challenged and interested despite a slight disparity in our climbing abilities. Lunch was provided and delicious. In the morning we climbed up cliff faces and in the afternoon we tried a rock chimney.
I had an absolutely brilliant time with CMRCA. The leaders were superb and so helpful, and it was very professional and well organised. Safety was not compromised but it was still a real adventure! I felt quite safe attached to a rope, up high on the rock, or deep down in the cave. I hope to do this again. Thank you very much CMRCA, and particularly to Gee, Em, and Euan.
I took the introduction to rock climbing with chiang Mai rock climbing adventures, and I must say, I couldn't fault them. My guide, Gee, was brilliant from the start. He spoke perfect English and gave me the opportunity to climb more difficult routes as soon as he realised I was able. The food was good and overall it was an excellent experience. Will definitely be doing more climbing when I get home!
