What to expect
Witness for yourself the Philippines' "Beautiful Disaster," as immortalized by a local film. Situated in the north of Metro Manila, you'll find the ever-active and renowned Mount Pinatubo. This volcano gained fame for two distinct reasons: its mesmerizing beauty and the catastrophic eruption of 1991, which reverberated globally as the "Lahar" or mudflow devastated the livelihood of locals and cast a shadow over the area's tourism industry.
Now, safely back on track, an adventurous trek will undoubtedly enrich your Mount Pinatubo experience. Embark on a thrilling 14 km trail that commences with a scenic 4x4 ride to the trek's starting point. Be prepared to traverse small rivers under the scorching sun; it won't be a simple journey, but it adds to the allure of trekking in Mount Pinatubo. Undoubtedly, this will be a remarkable experience.
If time permits, we'll make a stop at an Aeta tribe village on the way back from the Pinatubo crater. The Aetas are one of the Philippines' earliest indigenous communities, and Mount Pinatubo has been their sanctuary for millennia. This offers a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in their culture and way of life.

Reviews
The tour was extremely well organized. We left Manila at midnight so we could arrive early at the 4x4 tour meeting point. On the outward and return journeys, we stopped for food (we had a choice of several fast-food chains or a gas station with baked goods). The 4x4 drive to Mt. Pinatubo can get quite dusty, so it's a good idea to bring a change of clothes. The scenery is beautiful; the crater lake and Mt. Pinatubo, and the hike (about 50 minutes) there, are incredibly beautiful.
The tour really fits a one-day itinerary for hiking+adventure, if you're looking for one. It's set-up well and the facilitators make sure that you will do what you intended to do. I've been wanting to experience hiking Mt. Pinatubo, and with a very limited time in Manila, I got to do it without any fuss. This is highly recommended.
The whole trip was tiring but well worth it! The scenery is really beautiful. I can roughly divide it into three stages from setting off to going up the volcano. The first stage is by jeep, the second stage is walking on the river bed, and the third stage is climbing. We will pass some small streams along the way. In the second and third sections, you will definitely step into water and your feet will get wet! Sometimes the water is as deep as your calves, so it is recommended that you wear waterproof shoes and quick-drying pants. The second and third sections take about 2 hours. There is a primitive small toilet on the top, but it is still recommended that everyone go to the toilet before starting the action and bring some small dry food.
Had a great experience. Scenery was stunning. Hike was not so difficult. The guides were very helpful. Mt. Pinatubo is a must-visit!
Most fun and amazing experience!! The booking was fairly easy and straightforward. We had adequate stops throughout the trip and it was a safe environment for all types of travelers. Would recommend for those wanting to do a quick and easy hiking trip!! Mt. Pinatubo is a beautiful scenery that you won’t want to miss out on!
the view of the crater is just amazing. the journey during sunrise with all those purplish and orange hue on the sky, we're lucky that the full moon is still there even at dawn. whatever beauty usually comes with a little bit of pain, that is, you'll most likely have to take a nap the day before or you'll most likely won't be able to sleep in the car. don't worry, all of us were asleep on the 4x4 way back to the camp even though it's super bumpy. the view is worth it. bring tons of food that you like, you can get some snack at the camp.
1. This itinerary is not recommended for the elderly and those with mobility impairments, as it gathers at 2:30 in the morning and requires a lot of work. The off-road vehicle ride on the bumpy road lasts for more than an hour, which is very physically demanding. 2. It is recommended not to eat too much or be too full before arriving in an off-road vehicle before starting to walk, because the bumps on the road may really make you vomit. 3. It is recommended to bring enough dry food and bread for two meals. A 1000cc water belt is enough. Wear slippers or sandals, because cloth shoes may get wet and the muddy ground will make cloth shoes dirty and need to be cleaned, which is very troublesome. 4. It is highly recommended to wear a mask because windblown sand will make you inhale sand and dust. It is recommended to wear a hat that can be fixed on the head to block the sun and prevent the hat from being blown away by strong winds. It is recommended to wear sunglasses to prevent wind and sand from entering the eyes and resist Sunlight. 5. Crater Lake is really beautiful and worth a visit.
Joining Klook's Pinatubo tour was exhilarating. We traversed stunning fields, capturing the essence of the Philippines. The vast volcanic landscape at Pinatubo's base was breathtaking. Trekking trails revealed remnants of eruptions. Reaching the crater, the lake's beauty was mesmerizing. Klook's guides ensured a safe and enjoyable journey, making this adventure unforgettable.
Taal Volcano Lake is beautiful, but the travel time is very long: it's about ten hours round trip from Manila by van, then another six hours round trip by jeepney, followed by a five-kilometer round trip hike. It's a day trip that requires a lot of stamina.
Wear hiking sandals as you’ll be trekking through water 60% of the time! The view is absolutely worth it on a clear day - but the clouds move fast and the view changes very quickly, so try to get to the peak as soon as possible
