This tour of Taiwan's East Coast showcases the most beautiful locations and remarkable natural sights along one of the world's most spectacular coastlines
Explore the impressive gorge and beautiful surrounding farmlands of Fanshuliao
Walk the ‘stone stairs' of Shihtiping and visit the fishing harbor of Shihti (eyes peeled for whales and dolphins in the distance!)
Relax over tranquil views of the Pacific coastline and discover aboriginal art at Niushan Huting and Baqi Gazebo
Inclusive of comfortable coach transportation including hotel pick up and drop off
Beginning at Fanshuliao Valley, you'll be immediately confronted with the dramatic topography of a hundred-meter gorge cutting through the mountains at this unique canyon. The area is dotted with quaint cottages on riverside farmlands with undulating hill vistas beyond. Shihtiping showcases the best of Taiwan's coastal geology, where sea erosion has smoothed the volcanic rock, forcing it to immerge into layers resembling stone steps. Stop by the beautifully constructed Taroko Bridge before visiting Shihti Harbor, a working fishing village and the gateway to whale and dolphin sightings in Taiwan – so keep your eyes peeled! The tour ends with two of Taiwan's most tranquil spots: Baqi Gazebo and Niushan Huting. Both provide an undisturbed setting for blissful viewpoints across the Pacific coastline and the coastal mountain range, with lush grasslands dotted with aboriginal sculptures and handicrafts.

The ocean with its waters smashing against humongous rock formations, the lush mountains right behind you as you face the ocean- beautiful!
Niu Shan Huting is situated in Shoufeng Township, a rural township located in Hualien County. It is about 30 minutes ride from Hualien City along the East Coast line. Niu Shan Huting is relatively unknown to foreign tourists. We ventured into this beautiful place on our Taiwanese tour guide’s recommendation. According to our tour guide, ‘Niu Shan’ used to be a ground for grazing of cattle decades ago. ‘Niu Shan’ has the same meaning as ‘Huting’ in the Formosan language of the Amis tribe, the largest ethnic group among Taiwanese aborigines. Thus it is named as ‘Niu Shan Huting’ when the owner, an Amis aborigine, decided to open a recreation establishment there.
If you enjoy rocky beaches, this is the place to visit. The rocks are right at the water's edge, and you can scramble around the tops of them and get a great view of the ocean. There are no protective railings so I don't recommend taking small children. There are some railed viewing points near the parking area and public bus stop that simply overlook the water, but the rock formations are much more interesting.
