It was an almost perfect day trip except for no English translation of what the driver was saying. I guess the English video covered what he said, who knows. But our driver was really nice, offered to take pictures and tried his best to communicate some scenery like Indian head sculpted by nature, the 50 marble heads, Taiwan map in the sky, the mulberry fruit soap. The buffet lunch at Taroko restaurant was okay but we were jolted by an earthquake. Thank God I was able to do the tour Feb 6th for a tradgedy happened in Hualien with the 6.4 earthquake at 11:50pm. I was so blessed that I came out alive as I was checked in at the same exact street Guosheng 1st St. My overall expeience was priceless.

What To Expect

Take a private day tour to what is arguably Taiwan's most scenic destination, Taroko National Park. Showcasing a diverse range of nature and wildlife: travel from rugged coast, to luscious forest, to the dramatic cliff faces of 19km Taroko Gorge. Delve into the heart of the park at the Swallow Grotto Trail, interspersed with tunnels and the best viewpoint for overlooking the narrowest part of the gorge, where the river is at its most dramatic. After lunch in scenic Tianxiang, you'll visit the Changchung Shrine (or the Eternal Spring Shrine), a beautiful temple nestled within the hillside, atop a waterfall stream that supposedly never stops running (hence the name of the shrine). Before ending at Qixingtan, famed for its pebble beach and fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Bus driver will also be your tour guide. It was a very nice and smooth tour. He stopped over some more spots that aren’t originally in the trip which was nice. Tour guide was very friendly and funny too. He would say a lot of facts and trivia about every place. Just that he only speak Chinese. (That was mentioned in the tour description, so for nonChinese speakers be sure to know that.) But they provided an iPad that contains English videos describing the tourist spots in Hualien/Taroko Gorge.

Driver looks blur but he is actually very experienced and funny. The road in Taroko is narrow but he carefully steer the bus along the curves and warn us on the dangers ahead. The trip was amazing and the driver stories on the history of the place and kept the trip within the time limit. In overall, we have an amazing trip.

We never made it to the trip because the instructions for hotel pick-up was wrong. We tried every means to contact them prior to the trip but to no avail. The phone numbers could not be accessed. There was a long thread of email asking them to refund this because it was not our fault that we did not make it since we could not reach them.

We were lucky there were only 10 in the mini bus. Tour guide was really nice and has extensive knowledge about hualien.

The tour itinerary was okay. You get to see views of mountains, rivers, waterfalls and rock formations. For each stop, you get just enough time to take photos and appreciate nature. The down side of the tour is that the guide did not speak English. We were lucky that one of the participants volunteered to translate the instructions for us. But despite this, we still love our tour guide. He was very proactive and a bit amuzing. Would recommend this for people whose intent is to see a little bit of Taroko Gorge and take photos of the famous spots. If you are looking for an adventurous experience, this is not the tour for you.
