Hotel pickup was convenient and fuss free. The tour was well packed including the ferry to Pak Ou caves and the ride to the Kuangsi waterfall and finally ending with a ride back to the hotel. The ferry took a bit longer than expected (around 2 hours per trip) but the tour guide kept us entertained by talking to us. Overall experience was great. This is my second trip with Klook (although this tour is outsourced to another tour agency) and will definitely book with Klook again!

What To Expect

Away from the city sights, Luang Prabang has even more amazing natural and cultural sights for you to behold. This day trip will take you to the Pak Ou Caves, accessible by a boat journey up the Mekong River. You'll see first hand, hundreds of Buddha statues, carefully left there by loyal devotees. It's a cultural and religious site that needs to be seen to be believed. You'll also make a stop at Ban Xianghai where you'll see where most local wine - called Lao Lao - is made. After a traditional Lao lunch, take a dip into the dazzlingly blue waters in the Kuang Si Waterfalls, where you can lay back and see the white limestone cliffs shining. With a convenient roundtrip to and from your hotel, you'll have a safe and truly memorable cultural experience in this day trip.

Was assigned Mr. Pon by Novatours for this trip. Mr. Pon was very fun and enthusiastic. however the trip to the caves was much too long. it took us two hours on our leisure boat while we watched other tourists zoom by on their long boats. expect to climb up steep 450 steps up to the upper caves. bring a torch to see the Buddha figures. the rice whiskey fermentation explanation could also have been better elaborated by the staff instead of merely letting us taste the alcohol and referring us to the board to self read. loved the waterfall but overall would have preferred a tighter itinerary with less time on the boat and perhaps add in a visit to the elephants.

Nam was the absolute best tour guide. He taught us lots of history, shared with us many stories and let us taste all kinds of different food. He spoke English very well and was such a joy to be around! Would highly recommend!

The guide for the trip was very nice and informative, always trying to keep the conversation going even though it was a small group. The activities were very good with the cruise up the Mekong and the caves being impressive. Unfortunately the adverse weather meant that we couldn't go swimming in the waterfalls however this was just down to bad luck and nothing bad from the operators. We did however feel that the price of the trip was a bit too expensive given that the cost of the attractions and the cost of taxis and boats was significantly cheaper, and we feel we could have done the trip ourselves for less than half the price.

I couldn't recommend this tour enough. You get to see the major Luang Prabang nature scenaries along with the Mekong river cruise in the morning and a car ride in the afternoon. I love the lunch, all the dishes are local Laos dishes and very delicious.

The whole program was executed seamlessly ... from the lazy river cruise to the village and the caves and finally to the waterfall. Our guide even bought fruits and snacks for us to sample while on the boat. I would recommend this tour to anyone heading to Luang Prabang!

Nice trip. Boat ride was relaxed. Enjoyed the scenery on the trip to Pak Ou cave. The waterfall was awesome.

The river cruise was really nice in the hot weather, sailing through the vast Mekong River while looking at Luang Prabang gives you some quiet time by yourself to enjoy the view. The caves were fascinating and impressive, seeing so many Buddha figurines all over the cave is just quite a spectacle. The lunch was a great time to get to know the other participants and have a nice local meal as well. The highlight was the Kuang Si Waterfall, which was something I saw on my friend's Instagram photo and was looking forward to. And I am glad to say that it did not disappoint, the scenery is so beautiful it is hard to describe. We managed to dip in the water and it was cooling and refreshing. There was a bit of crowd at first but as the day draws to an end there were fewer people and plenty of space for all. Just to note is that getting into the water is a little dangerous as there are many rocks so do be careful. You do need to bring swimwear and own towel. The changing rooms are a little dirty so wear your swimwear in advance and be prepared to wear a shirt over on the hour long car ride back. Overall it was a worth while trip and I highly recommend it. The guide Sai was really great as well, able to make everyone feel comfortable during the tour. High praises from me.

The journey to the Pak Ou caves was quite long. 2 hours to get there in between a whisky village. There were around 200 steps to walk up to the upper cave so make sure you wear appropriate footwear and no lighting in the cave so a torch may come in handy or a phone light. The journey back was an hour, which again was pretty but took far too long. If there are other means of getting there it may have been better. The waterfall was very beautiful. The journey was one hour by car. I would recommend going in the morning when it is quite so you can take better photos. To be honest this could have been done by yourself without a tour guide as we didn’t really learn that much you couldn’t get from a book.

Fantastic experience in Laos. The trip is well-planned and kept us occupied for the whole day with loads of fun. The Kuang Si Waterfall is one not to be missed in Luang Prabang. Great tour to book!
