Reviews
I booked a Kerama Islands snorkeling plus sea turtle swimming package via Klook, with Miegusuku Port as the meeting point. I self drove so I did not use the provided pick up service, and parking at the port is chargeable. Check in started around 8.20am. Onboard, all equipment such as wetsuits, masks, fins, and life jackets were provided, along with a safety briefing and optional add ons like banana boat rides, jet ski activities, and GoPro rental. The boat reached the snorkeling site in about 20mins, where we entered the water in guided groups. After an initial session and a short break on the yacht with tea provided, participants split into different activity groups. The sea turtle experience involved a short banana boat ride to a nearby spot, where staff first checked for turtles before we snorkelled in the area, followed by additional free snorkeling nearby. We returned to the yacht around 11.00am and arrived back at port at about 11.50am, with equipment cleaned on board.
It was a bit confusing for the meeting point at the port since we arrived earlier at 8am. You need to wait near entrance of the parking lot for the staff to arrive around 8:15-8:20 with the boat and their blue NEWS shirt. Then, as we had booked parasailing, we had to leave with another company on another boat first. No toilet on this smaller boat, but they have a toilet on the bigger snorkeling boat. Once we were set, the experience for parasailing and snorkeling went smoothly. It was a great day with magnificent views over and undersea. The staff takes free photos with their phones/underwater camera for you. You can download them on their website afterwards which is a plus! Just be sure to have anti-nausea medication: the boat rides are very rough. We had no issue with safety. The snorkeling boat was well equipped.
It was quiet a interesting experience! Crew members was very helpful. Definitely worth it! We even saw 2 turtles! U can rent a GoPro. But i just used my iphone with waterproof case.
Had a fantastic family trip (with our 9-year-old) to the Kerama Islands today (18/9/25). Booking was seamless, even just two days out. The crew was perfectly prepared for our child with correctly sized gear. Safety is their top priority: they provided personal safety devices, had 5 instructors for small groups, and an instructor always had a buoy in the water for support. We felt completely safe. We saw tons of fish and got great photos. No turtles today, but it was still an amazing day thanks to the extremely kind staff. Onboard facilities like a shower and free water were a great plus. The staff was extremely kind and professional. We can't recommend this tour enough.
Great day out. very professional, safety minded staff, that take care of all in their group. thoroughly recommend 🐢
Great, welcoming staff who explain the steps. The reefs are magnificent! Very nice experience.
Compared to Southeast Asia, snorkeling tours in Japan are truly professional. Each crew member has their specific role, and I encourage you to observe how a team provides organized and high-quality service. I felt it was excellent. The instructors also provided great emotional support. When they saw I had an action camera, they proactively took it and dove underwater to film me, and then creatively filmed me in different ways, which was really great. For specific videos, check out "十一楼的日记" (Eleventh Floor's Diary) on Xiaohongshu. It's truly wonderful.
We stayed near Kokusai Street and found the closest boarding point to our accommodation, which was convenient for hotel and wharf pick-up and drop-off. We took a small boat out to sea and took seasickness medicine in advance, so we didn't feel any discomfort. I rented a GoPro for 3500 yen, but I wasn't very good at capturing photos. I took a few pictures and more videos, recording the wonderful snorkeling experience. We were a bit unlucky and didn't see any sea turtles, but my wife saw a sea snake.
The pick-up service is great. They only explain in Japanese and English, but if you know a few words, you can understand everything. The staff are friendly, and once you get in the water, it's so beautiful. I highly recommend you experience it! 😉
Although the staff only speak Japanese, it wasn't difficult to understand the snorkeling precautions through body language and printed multilingual instructions. The snorkeling equipment was of good quality and clean. The seawater was very blue, clear, and refreshing but not cold, and there was a lot of marine life. A great experience!
