Guide
- Alishan Tsou Tribe Zhulu Tribe is located at the foot of Alishan, a comprehensive recreational area with Tsou dance and music, cultural exhibitions, and experiential activities. It's a great place for family outings and group leisure activities.
- Sika deer were good friends of the Tsou people in early times. It is especially meaningful to reintroduce sika deer here. You can feed and interact with sika deer up close. July to September is when the sika deer's fur is most beautiful, and you can see their plum blossom-like spots and cute fawns.
- Learn about the traditional Tsou hunter's archery experience, understand the culture of traditional Tsou hunters'圍獵 (surrounding and hunting), and unique historical culture.
- Paint cute ceramic wild boars and experience silk-screen printing DIY tote bags to create your own souvenirs.
- Stalls run by residents of the Zhulu Tribe only operate on holidays, selling various seasonal vegetables, agricultural products, and barbecue-flavored meals. You are welcome to wander and visit the tribe.
- The afternoon performance slots on 10/19 and 11/16 are fully booked.
In the Tsou language, 'poftonga-veoveo', "poftonga" means "to block," and "veoveo" means "sika deer." This originated from the Tsou ancestors who once lived here. The ancestors chased and drove sika deer to the mountain wall at Chukou before hunting them. To commemorate the ancestors who once lived here and because it was an early hunting ground for the Tsou ancestors, the community was named 'Zhulu' (meaning 'chasing deer'). The Alishan Tsou Tribe Zhulu Tribe has become a comprehensive recreational area with Tsou dance and music, cultural exhibitions, and market sales. The park sells many indigenous crafts and cultural and creative products, agricultural specialty souvenirs, indigenous-flavored special drinks, coffee, and unique delicacies. On weekends and holidays, there are live performances by tribal singers.
