What to expect

The Tsou word "poftonga-veoveo" means "blocking" (poftonga) the "deer" (veoveo). It originates from the fact that Tsou ancestors once lived here, chasing and hunting sika deer to the Chuku mountain cliffs. To commemorate the ancestors' past life in this place, which was also an early hunting ground for the Tsou people, the community was named "Chulu" (逐鹿, meaning "chasing deer"). The Alishan Tsou Chulu Tribe has become a comprehensive recreational area combining Tsou dance and music, cultural exhibitions, and market sales. The park features many indigenous handicrafts, cultural and creative products, agricultural specialty souvenirs, indigenous-flavored special drinks, coffee, and special delicacies. There are also live performances by tribal singers on weekends and holidays.
