What to expect
Traveling to China? Make sure you always have internet access in China with a portable WiFi router that will work anywhere in the country. - Day charges are calculated inclusively. For example, if you pick up the device on a Thursday and return it on a Monday, you will be charged for 5 days of usage
- WiFi devices are usually available. In the rare event that all devices have been booked, you will be notified at least 1 day in advance by email
- You will be charged for all the days that you are in possession of the WiFi device, whether or not you use the mobile data
- According to local policy, please present your passport and take a photo of you holding it at the Airport Service Counter when you pick up the device
- A penalty will be charged for late return (within 5 days) at CNY35 per day. Your deposit will not be refunded and the device will not be workable if it is returned later than 5 days
- Customers will be liable for any damage/loss/theft of the device (up to CNY500). Please check the device carefully before leaving the service counter

The wifi signal is actually good, the internet speed is fast. The wifi device is also good, with 8 hours of standby time once fully charged. However, i will advise to download and subscribe to a good VPN service to be able to access google, facebook, IG, and other sites. Blocked google sites include gmail, maps, and goggle play and translate. So you have to install your VPN beforehand. Also the counter is VERY HARD TO FIND. It took me hours to locate the counter since the personnel i talked to can't understand english (arrived at 3am). The counter is located in the GTC area of the airport, it's an annex building that is connected to the main building. The U-Roaming counter number is C-212. It is one of the small booths in the middle of the GTC atrium. If you need to have an internet connection upon arrival (for google translate, you need VPN to access the app), the airport has free wifi. However you need to have a working roaming number to access it. An sms code will be sent upon registration. BTW, there's a ¥500 deposit for the wifi device, which will be returned once the device is also returned.
Looking for the booth was relatively easy but it is not always manned as I learned later. Fortunately for me, the person in charge was around, but I am not sure what would happen if my flight was delayed. Reception varied as I travelled from Shenzhen to Guangzhou and back.sometimes it just hanged for quite a while before loading again
Speed is fine. From T3 you need to walk a bit to GTC to collection point. Sometimes the staff is away and request you to make a call, which is tricky because you are a tourist without a sim card. The charging cable is loose, prepare your own standard android cable. However i would recommend getting a SIM card instead, cos without a phone number it’s not possible to use all the apps, and without using apps you basically can’t go anywhere or do everything. Well you can still, but very troublesome with higher cost. It’s a cashless and mobile heavy land anyway,
When we arrived at shenzhen airport we proceed to the counter and we waited for so long to arrive the one incharge of Uroaming. Sadly, she cannot give us our device for the reason that NO AVAILABLE DEVICE. Therefore We ask for u a FULL REFUND OF IT. Thank you

The counter is closed. Need to call the number on the counter. Luckily i managed to find a local nearby to call on behalf. if not, without a sim car how can I make the call. bad management.

I picked it up at Shenzhen but the wifi egg can't reach any network there. It was able to provide online service only when I reached Yunnan. Besides the charger didn't function properly.
Bad WiFi portal ever I've used!! Didnt works as per advised before my rental (no access to watsapp n Google).

bad too much, i found the counter but the customer service girl talked to me cannot get the wifi portable.
