Best experience ever! We spent an enjoyable time feeding and playing with the elephants! The elephants have there own personality and are all very cute. Staff at the elephant camp were very friendly and gave a lot of information. There were extra handcraft and Thai cooking workshop at the trip so the whole experience are very fruitful.

What To Expect

A truly wholesome, immersive experience with Thailand's famous gentle giants is only possible on an ethical elephant experience with great consideration for the welfare of the animal. This is why a half day trip to the famous Elephant Jungle Sanctuary in Phuket has become so popular: visitors will be able to interact and join the elephants in their natural habitat and learn about the life of these rescued giants. After a briefing on the work and background of the sanctuary as well as some snacks, visitors will be able to don the traditional clothing of the Karen tribe. They will help the sanctuary's keepers to prepare natural dietary supplements for the elephants in their care. Then they will be properly introduced to the sanctuary's rescue elephants, and even feed them the prepared supplements. While playing and interacting with the elephants, taking photos and making sure they are well fed, or even just observing them, visitors will be able to learn about the elephants' past. They'll be taught about elephant behavior patterns and characteristics, and bond better with them when they learn how a truly ethical experience with elephants is achieved. Visitors will also get the chance to have some good clean fun by taking a big mud spa with the elephants, and help them wash off afterwards in the elephant shower room! Then you'll get your own shower and enjoy a delicious Thai meal as a reward for all the hard work, with vegetarian options available. You'll be dropped off back to your hotel a true sense of accomplishment, knowing that you've aided the sanctuary and its elephants, and learnt how to best help these beautiful creatures in the future.

So pleased we did this. We’re picked up on time. An hour journey in the back of a converted ute. First they explain the history of the sanctuary and the elephants. Then you go up and feed them. Then it’s get changed into swimming gear for their mud bath. I advise take an old t shirt that you can throw away afterwards as the mud goes everywhere. So into the mud pool and cover the elephants with mud, then into the big pond to scrub it all off. Then finally under the shower to further give them a scrub. Very interactive. After the bath, you can have a shower yourself. You’ll definitely need it. Then lunch is served. reasonably meal too. Then one last goodbye to the elephants the back to hotel in natural air conditioned cab. A little pricy for a half day tour, but the money goes to the sanctuary to feed the elephants. Definitely do this

What a great day! The crew is very nice to the elephants and they seem to be very healthy and happy. They can walk around without chains and one of them joked with us while bathing. I really recommend this event! And you don't have to be afraid because the crew take care for your safety.

Overall a great experience! Got to interact with the elephants closely. Pick up was on time and very easy. Only downside was the cooking class, which was a little random and felt a bit out of place.

Great morning out with the elephants at the sanctuary. The cooking session was a bit random but half a day is sufficient.

If you are in Phuket this is a “must do” experience!! The Elephants are obviously well cared for. The trip is informative ,great fun and well worth the money. It’s a nice feeling knowing that the cost of the trip is helping to find such a worthy cause.

This is certainly one of the best way to spend your time in Phuket. The downside of any activity in Phuket is the length as you dont feel rushed but when you leave and look at the clock, you realise you could of spent more time there. With that said, I have no regrets about booking this. Sure they managed to miss us duri g the pick up but we had our own car so we made our way to the Kathu Waterfall from where they drove us up to see the elephants. The girls are so gentle and so kind you just want to hug them. please get this and support them as later that day we met other elephants who were beaten and in chains to carry turists on their back.
