What To Expect

A truly wholesome, immersive experience with Thailand's famous gentle giants is only possible on an ethical elephant experience with great consideration for the welfare of the animal. This is why a half day trip to the famous Elephant Jungle Sanctuary in Phuket has become so popular: visitors will be able to interact and join the elephants in their natural habitat and learn about the life of these rescued giants. After a briefing on the work and background of the sanctuary as well as some snacks, visitors will be able to don the traditional clothing of the Karen tribe. They will help the sanctuary's keepers to prepare natural dietary supplements for the elephants in their care. Then they will be properly introduced to the sanctuary's rescue elephants, and even feed them the prepared supplements. While playing and interacting with the elephants, taking photos and making sure they are well fed, or even just observing them, visitors will be able to learn about the elephants' past. They'll be taught about elephant behavior patterns and characteristics, and bond better with them when they learn how a truly ethical experience with elephants is achieved. Visitors will also get the chance to have some good clean fun by taking a big mud spa with the elephants, and help them wash off afterwards in the elephant shower room! Then you'll get your own shower and enjoy a delicious Thai meal as a reward for all the hard work, with vegetarian options available. You'll be dropped off back to your hotel a true sense of accomplishment, knowing that you've aided the sanctuary and its elephants, and learnt how to best help these beautiful creatures in the future.

Amazing experience, the staff were very informative and I learned a lot about what they do and the ethical impact. I feel very privileged to have been in such close and personal interaction with these wonderful animals and the people who care for them.

Exciting sanctuary where you get to spend time with elephants up close! Remember to bring your own towel and change of clothes if you want to do the mudbath

The experience of feeding the elephants with bananas & watermelons, playing with them in the mud, & bathing them in the mini river is really an awesome one. It was worth the price!

It was an amazing experience and the staff was very patient with us. I definitely recommend it!

Booked the morning session which was fantastic. Plenty of time spent with the elephants, feeding, mud bath & then washing them afterwards. Learnt a lot about the elephants in the sanctuary. Lunch was brilliant, even had a miniature cooking lesson/help preparing a dish. Only downside which put a bit of a dampener on the day was we had been forgotten to be picked up from our hotel. After phoning they did send a private car to pick us up, when we arrived at the sanctuary at 8.10am the guide said “oh did we forget you, I’m sorry that happens every week to someone” The group had already started prepping the food for the animals which we missed out on which was a little disappointing. The day also never followed the itinerary timing stated, we were actually back at our hotel at 11.15am.

My friend and I loved this experience! They were late picking us up but the staff was wonderful and went above and beyond to make it up to us! I would recommend everyone to do this if in Phuket! Just remember, if they are late picking you up, call them to make sure there was not a mix up with your reservation.

Very good experience. The staff are very nice. The elephants are not afraid of human and you can feel free to touch them all the time.

Excellent, highly recommend this sanctuary. The guide was fantastic. The food really good and the real stars were the elephants. It was so sad to see an elephant that was brought in 3 days ago that had previously been abused. This place does tremendous work on the rehabilitation of these wonderful creatures.
