A fun and engaging countryside tour with our talented guide, Baki, and our friendly driver, Johnny. We visited a pottery village showcasing many beautiful creations by the skilled artisans and enjoyed the chance to make our own pottery. Lunch was served at a beautiful cafe offering delicious local food. Overall, it was a great tour to learn more about the local culture and craftsmanship.
Hui (not sure if that's how it's spelled but it's pronounced "oui") our guide, was very knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. So was tommy our driver. Hui told us about the history of the red river, local customs, the villages and how the villagers worked and even about the war, current land rules/taxes (our own curiosity)---basically everything we could think of. While this tour seems more expensive than other longer tours, keep in mind that those tours only take you to places, this one bridges you to the locals and allows you to interact and learn from them directly. Hui acted as a translator for us when we met with a very important elder from the community. It was such a unique experience--you'd forget about the hefty price immediately. The food was great and hui explained each dish in detail. We also picked and ate fresh fruits and made ceramics--something younger tourists would enjoy. Overall, i'd trust this tour group (hanoi backpacking) when I go back to vietnam.
We took the countryside tour today and it was a great experience! We are interested in pottery, so it was a real treat to visit Ba Tran and not only see how it was made, but also try our hand at it. Sim, our guide, took very good care of us, even supplying us with local food and drinks as a snack. One highlight was visiting the traditional home in Ba Tran, something I could never organize on my own. The lunch was very delicious in an eclectic cafe. It was a unique tour and I was very satisfied.
This was such a neat humbling experience! The Jeep itself is really cool to drive in and we had a tea break with a local. He was very nice and welcoming. He told us all about his house and his life. We even got to try our hand at making pottery. Lunch is delicious and the egg coffee we try at the Hidden Gem is fantastic!
I meant to leave a review sooner, but I wanted to sit down and take the time to write a proper, thorough review. We really appreciated the tour that the team put on for us in Hanoi. It was great to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and actually see some more of the rural and village-style areas, rather than being in tourist hotspots. The guides were all extremely knowledgeble with excellent English, and I feel as though we got a real exclusive insight into the more common living style of locals. I don't want to give away too many secrets of the tour, but I was certainly not bored in any way. It was all very fascinating. I want to add that - we had a 2-year old child - while I was initially concerned about the safety and security, I felt entirely comfortable with the guides. The drivers of the Jeeps were careful, and I felt safe the whole time. You don't go on any fast or dangerous highways either to get to the village, which was a bonus - especially if you're a safety-dad like me! Oh and - I didn't realise, but we had a HUGE lunch that was provided and catered for at the end. It was some of the most delicious food we'd had as well. Thank you team!
Apparently I was the only one who had applied to go to the suburbs, so I ended up joining a city tour at short notice. I got to see not only the famous tourist spots, but also the deeper side of Hanoi, and it was a very fulfilling experience! Food and drinks were included, so it was good value for money!!
The tour is good and I personally highly recommend it. Riley was one of the most informative and enthusiastic guide I have ever encountered. She never fails to give us a smile while guiding us through the tour. Riley always try to answer our questions with as much information as she is aware of. I probably won't enjoy the tour as much as I did if not for her being my tour guide. Thank you Riley. You are the best! Many thanks to our driver who ensure our safety and trying to keep us dry during the raining day!
Awsome. The tour showed us the other part of Hanoi - rural area. The tour guide Doanh did not only act as a professional tour guide, but also demonstrated talented photograhic skills. The driver Luong drove the car safely and also helped us take some interesting photos. They are friendly and energetic. Thank you Donach and Luong for making a happy day for us!
my family and I really enjoyed this trip! we’ve learnt so much about Hanoi and the lunch was amazing!
