I debated on this tour because of the cost, and I’ve not booked tours before. But I wanted to surprise my parents since we were in Vienna for New Years. We took the January 1, 2019 tour. The tour exceeded my expectations. I admit one of the reasons I didn’t want to go on a tour was because I’ve felt like the breaks waste time, and my family is used to maximizing time. We aren’t into shopping for souvenirs or touristy locations. However, I was pleasantly surprised that both breaks were tied into something that added value. The first stop was for food at Landzeit. We were all impressed with the selection and quality of fresh food. The gift shop had something I promised a friend a decade ago I would look for him, so that was an added bonus to find it there. The second break made me wish it was longer. It was at Wolfgangsee. The scenery was spectacular. My dad even got a little teary-eyed. I appreciated that they played clips from The Sound of Music at a strategic location but didn’t overemphasize it. The narration from the guide was good. It was in both English and Spanish. She did a good job of saying that she’s minimize talking fir the first part to let us rest as it was an early start, but picked up again a bit later. In Salzburg, she gave a lot of flexibility to let us take off on our own or stay with her for a brief overview. We chose to do this and she kept a good pace, letting us know where we could break off and explore more if we chose. The Christmas Market at Sternbrau was still open, and that was a fun surprise. Although there were places I would have liked to spend more time, I think the use of time was balanced to maximize seeing things, including a monastery (the woodwork with inlaid wood was so impressive and something I’ve not seen in that way in my travels). The Vienna Woods were a nice change of pace and seeing the underground lakes was also different. The countryside was also nice during the bus ride. I highly recommend this tour and the value add with this day trip was worth it.

What To Expect

The hills are alive with the sounds of Mozart’s music with this day tour of Salzburg, which also happens to be Mozart’s hometown and the film location of the beloved classic, *The Sound of Music*. First stop of the tour: St. Gilgen for a photo opportunity of the beautiful Wolfgangsee. Recognize it? It’s because that was where they shot the opening scene of the iconic *The Sound of Music.* Next, you’ll be taken through the town of Salzburg on a guided walking tour, accompanied by a knowledgable and professional guide. You’ll be going through Salzburg’s most famous attractions including a few filming locations of *The Sound of Music.* When you get there, whip out your singing skills, make like Maria and “do re mi.” And of course, let’s not forget another musical genius that was born here: Mozart, you'll even be able to see the street where he was born! You’ll also be taken to several other attractions in Salzburg, namely: University Church, St. Peter’s Abbey, the Salzburg Cathedral and the Festival Hall. Before the tour ends, you’ll have some free time to yourself to explore the city, take more photos, pretend to be a Vontrapp child, buy souvenirs, eat lunch—a perfect way to experience the beauty of Salzburg however you desire.

The day tour was fairly good in terms of the quality of tour bus and guide. But we were stopped by the same restaurant (just different branches on the road), and it was expensive. The cake was good but the other food were awful. And the restaurant didn't have adequate man power, we had to wait for ordering food and for the food to come. So We just had little time to finish a light meal.

The tour ran smooth and on time. It would be better if more stopovers were available for us to take pictures at the beautiful lakes.

The tour bus was comfortable. The guide could speak good english with good voice. Overall the trip was good but a bit pricey.

The friendly tour guide introduces very detail about the history, the geography, the historical structures and relevant people of Salzburg. She can speak English, German and Spanish very fluently. Impressive! I was picked up by small shuttle at the hotel and change to another big shuttle bus. Very interesting highly recommended!

The tour guide was great and duly respose for her duty and explain very clearly. However the English and Dutch language tour were combined together so it waste a plenty of time for the tour guide to speak in multi languages
