Organized every year, the Shirakawa Light Up is an illumination event that attracts photographers and visitors from all around the world to catch the magical moments of traditional Japanese roofs lit up in the snow. Due to its extreme popularity, transporation to the event site can be challenging. Book with Klook and start off your tour with a shuttle bus pick up at Nagoya Station. You will be offered some onigiri (rice ball) and green tea on the bus to help replenish your energy for your first stop, which will be Takayama Historic District, an old town known for its beautifully preserved streets and houses dating from the Edo period. Next, you will hop back onto the bus and be driven to Shirakawa Village where you will enjoy a dinner of Hida beef, a premium quality beef that melts right in your mouth. After your meal and as the sun has set, the light up event will begin. Houses will illuminate in a soft yellow glow and you will have time to walk around the village and take tons of pictures to capture this spectecular moment. At the end of your trip, you will be taken back to Nagoya Station where the tour will be dismissed.
