Reviews summaryWe had an amazing one-day trip to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go! From exploring Takayama’s charming morning markets to admiring the postcard-perfect gassho-zukuri houses in Shirakawa-go, every moment was memorable. 🛍️🏡🌾 The scenery was stunning, the food — especially the Hida beef — was delicious, and the cultural experience was rich and peaceful. 🍜🥩🌿 Huge thanks to our guide Mickey for making the day even more special. Highly recommended! 🇯🇵
We had a great experience with the Shirakawa and Hida Takayama One-Day Tour from Nagoya. It was well worth the price, offering a smooth and well-organized journey for families or first-timers. The meet-up point at Meitetsu Bus Center was easy to locate and very accessible, making the start of the trip hassle-free. Our guide was fluent in English and communicated clearly, ensuring we knew the schedule at every stop. She announced the meet-up times in advance and reminded us again before we explored on our own, which made the trip stress-free. The driver was steady and careful, ensuring a safe ride despite the rainy and snowy conditions. We also appreciated the thoughtful details—each guest received a physical map with recommendations on where to try local delicacies, plus an initial tour of key landmarks, making it easier to navigate the area. Overall, this tour was well-planned and efficient, making it a hassle-free way to experience Shirakawa-go and Takayama in a day. Highly recommended!
Going to Takayama and Shirakawago was amazing. It felt like my winterwonderland dream came to life. Though we had delays due to a sudden accident in the same route, we were able to arrive on both locations and enjoyed the view. The food served was very filling and tasty. Would definitely like to go again in these places.
Our tour of Shirakawa-go and Takayama was an unforgettable experience, thanks to our incredibly knowledgeable and engaging tour guide Yuki. From the moment we started, she provided fascinating insights into the history, culture, and traditions of the region as well as recommendation of what to eat.
Convenient and great experience. Perfect tour for traveling with family especially with elderly members so there is no need to worry about transportation. When at Shirakawago, remember to head to the observatory deck shuttle bus stop early if you wish to visit the observatory deck, they cut off the line when daily limit is reached.
Booked this as an activity to do during our stay in Nagoya and ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! The itinerary was well organised to allow adequate time for us to spend in each area, both of which were amazing however Shirakawa-go was the standout for sure. Despite some delays on the drive back to Nagoya, the staff were very attentive and apologetic for the inconvenience caused. Overall this trip was more than worth the price and a special shoutout to our tour guide on bus 1 on the 15th of February!
We signed in at the designated counter at 7:50am in the morning, set off on time at 8:00am, and arrived at Takayama as scheduled at 11:00am. We had 2.5 hours to travel around and have lunch, and then stayed for another hour to drive to Kagawa-go. We arrived a little later than expected due to the large number of people and cars, but still had about 1.5 hours to visit. However, due to the accumulation of snow, the mountain road to the observatory was closed, and the shuttle bus queue was too long, so we were unable to go to the observatory. On the way back at 4:30pm, we encountered a traffic accident ahead of us. The original 2.5-hour drive ended up taking 5 hours to get back to Nagoya. Despite these situations, I still think that the itinerary of this group is very good and the tour leader is very responsible. I recommend it to everyone.
It was such a wonderful winter experience! The guide was very accommodating and friendly. Even though we weren't able to push through with Shirakawa-go due to road closure because of very heavy snow, the tour handler took us to Hida Folk Village instead, which was equally as magical, and shouldered the entrance fee expenses. The driver was also very skilled as we were still able to arrive at Nagoya before the scheduled ETA despite the extreme weather.
Inspite of the weather conditions we had a great day. We could not reach Shirakawago due to heavy snowfall but our guide Mickey arranged for us to go to Takayama and Hida no sato instead. We had a good driver, Mori san, who took us there and back safely. The sights were beautiful in the snow and hida beef was delicious.
My trip to Takayama and Shirakawago was unforgettable memories. Our tour guide, Mickey, was phenomenal, sweet and informative throughout the trip. Everything was smooth and on time! It was pleasure to book this trip!
