joined a 1/2 day tour. its very interesting even though i have not watched the movie before. But a pity that i could not fully enjoy it as im travelling with a toddler. thus my hub finished the tour alone while i have to leave the room as my 2yr old son is a bit too active to participate. recommend not to bring young kids . visited some places thats we could have drove ourselves thus a bit time wasting. prefer to have the whole tour covering the making of movies and exploring lord of the ring scenes. nevertheless, it was still a good experience.

What To Expect

Home to the famous Lord of the Rings movie and the award winning Weta Studio, Wellington is a place that is bustling with things to do, especially for a Lord of the Rings fan and an avid movie goer. With this tour, you can embark on a full or half day tour and explore the film sets all over Wellington city, including some of the iconic film locations from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. With the full day tour, walk the forests of Lord of the Rings and visit the beautiful Shire, Rivendell, Isengard, and the Great River Anduin. You will also be taken behind the scenes to Weta Studios to see how some of the award winning props and special effects for various movies were made, as well as get a chance to drop by their museum cave and souvenir shop. The cherry on top? An orc-sized, Lord of the Rings themed lunch will be served at the Scorch-O-Rama cafe. If you opt for the half day tour, you get a little taste of everything. This includes a quick tour of the city to see some famous film locations, and the theater where The Hobbit and The Return of the King were premiered, a short walking tour of the forests of Mount Victoria and “Greenbelt” (better known as the Outer Shire), and finally a tour of the Weta Studios, Museum and souvenir shop. This is the perfect tour for anyone who loves movies, and of course, the Lord of the Rings!

The best part of the tour is the narration (tour guide spiels). He was very good at sharing background stories and film references about the sites. The storytelling was both informative and entertaining. There were no boring moments.

This is an absolute trip everyone should attend. The tour guy, Grant, was very friendly and 100% full of knowlegge of the scenes. We were surprised about how Weta workshop has been working and what they had achieved in film products and computer special effects. We do recommend people to join this trip.

Really enjoyed the trip and our guide was amazingly friendly and had tonnes of knowledge about both Wellington and LOTR.

Loved this tour!Very good value for money. We had a great guide with a lot of passion and knowledge of the Lord of the Rings and the movies in general, it made a huge difference to the tour. Request someone who is a Lotr fan for the best experience.

This tour is one of the best.I would definitely recommend taking the full day tour over the 1/2 day tour, if you have the time.

The tour guide was very kind and welcoming and introduced us to many of Wellington's local attractions and anecdotes related to the Lord of the Rings. In addition, the small details of the tour company in some places also make people see the heart (such as the name of the car).

This tour is very good! You can meet people from different parts of the world. The atmosphere is very good. And the local tour guides are very kind and explained in great detail. Every attraction is familiar and familiar! At the end of the journey, there are small cakes and drinks for us. We are very careful! This tour is really worth the money!
