Kalametiya Sanctuary: Bird Watching by Private Boat Tour

Kalametiya is a biodiverse coastal wetland in Sri Lanka’s Hambantota District. Together with Rekawa and Ussangoda, it forms the scenic “Ruk” coastal belt, featuring lagoons, mangroves, bays, rocky outcrops and sandy beaches. Explore the sanctuary by boat or on foot while observing approximately 150 bird species, including 54 migratory species and nationally threatened birds such as the Slaty-breasted Crake, Black Bittern and Watercock. The area is also home to 20 mammal species, 41 fish species and 38 reptile species, with opportunities to spot grey mongooses and Hanuman langurs.
