Zhuji Ancient Lane

Zhuji Ancient Lane is located in Zhuji Town, Nanxiong City, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, situated between Meiling and Nanxiong County. It enjoys the reputation of "Guangdong's First Lane." This place was once a commercial hub on the ancient postal route connecting the Central Plains and Jiangnan to Lingnan, and it is also the birthplace and ancestral home of tens of millions of Cantonese people and overseas Chinese today. As one of China's three major ancestral tracing sites, it carries a profound historical heritage and clan culture.

The ancient lane is over 1,500 meters long, with its surface paved entirely with cobblestones, giving it an ancient and tranquil feel. Wandering through the alleys, you can see numerous cultural relics and historical sites from different dynasties, including the octagonal solid stone pagoda from the Yuan Dynasty (Hufei Pagoda), which has confirmed dating evidence and is still extant in Guangdong Province; lush thousand-year-old banyan trees; the shimmering Shashui Lake; and ancient-style gatehouses and residences. Strolling through it feels like stepping into a time tunnel, where every brick and tile bears the imprint of history.
