What to expect
Go on an adventure in the region of Ladakh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir on this six-day and five-night tour! First on the itinerary is shopping at the Tibetan Market. Find handicrafts, woolen clothes, and other souvenirs to take home. On the second day, travel to Sangam where the Indus and Zanskar Rivers meet. Get to see these magnificent rivers with two distinct colors (the Indus River is blue while the Zanskar River is green). During the drive from the Sangam, you’ll drive along the Indus River and visit the Gurdwara Pathar Sahib - a place of worship dedicated to the Guru Nanak - and Magnetic Hill, the upslope stretch of road that strangely pulls vehicles forward while on neutral. Arrive at the Leh Hall Of Fame, a museum that commemorates the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the Indo-Pakistani Wars. For the third day, explore the Nubra Valley, starting from its gateway, the Khardung La mountain pass. Continue to the Diskit District to visit the Diskit Monastery. Marvel at the 100-foot Maitra Buddha statue that was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama. The next day, travel to the Pangong Tso, a lake that extends from India to China. Relax by the lakeshore and admire its clear blue waters. Then, head to the Shey Village and Gompa, or monastery, and come face-to-face with the giant statue of the seated Shakyamuni Buddha. Rest up and spend the night in a campsite. The next morning, get to visit the Thiksey Monastery and tour around the eco-friendly Rancho School which you may recognize from Amir Khan’s beloved comedy ‘Three Idiots.’ Finally, cap off this epic six-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir with a hearty breakfast before getting dropped off at Leh Airport.
