What To Expect

Using traditional Korean techniques, you'll create your own one-of-a-kind fabric from a selection of natural plant dyes. You'll be guided by professional teachers to create a fabric that is not only unique in style, but also feels softer on the skin due to the ingredients extracted from nature. Whether you choose to crumple the fabric by hand or tie it up with a rubber band, you are sure to be mesmerized by the special and unpredictable rainbow pattern created as a result of your work. The finished effect is the Korean version of tie dyeing, made into a beautiful scarf or unique handkerchief. Fun for the whole family, come experience how locals have produced hand-dyed material for generations!

It was only an ok experience. The premises is not very conducive cos it was conducted under the hot sun, which the instructor subsequently put a cover over. While it was stated that we had a choice of scarf or handkerchief, klook did not provide the option in the app and we only learnt that the scarf option will cost a lot more.

I would give this 4 stars for the activity and 0 stars to Klook for the booking arrangements. Warning to those thinking of booking this active through Klook - Klook puts THE WRONG ADDRESS on the Klook website and the Klook voucher: the address 39 Wonseo-Dong, Jongno-gu is no longer in use and we ended up at this location but no sign of a fabric dye workshop. Because Klook doesn’t even disclose the name of the workshop provider or a contact number, you can’t even call the local business to clarify. When I called the Klook helpline, the guy could only tell me they have the number but can not disclose it to me and cannot call it other than in emergencies. No help at all. They got a Korean contact who called but not nothing other than send us a picture of the front of the old location which we were already at. By sheer luck, we googled and found reviews by users of other travel agencies, which gave the details below. Even then we needed to dash for 600m / 20 mins in the summer heat up and down a few steep slopes, barely making it there in time. NO thanks to Klook. For future visitors, you need the following details: Operator: Hanuel Mulbit Address: 35-167 Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea Tel: (+82) (0)2-765-9970 The activity itself was interesting and the family conducting it was friendly, patient with our questions and good with the young children in our group. On the dye workshop, our only less positive point was that the blue theme was not as attractive as the pastel multi colour designs that children could do at the Korean Folk Village. We were glad we did it, but I advise visitors NOT to book through Klook.
