Reviews
A wonderful one-day trip: the guide provided us with vivid and detailed instructions and stories about the attractions we visited, even in the cloudy weather, and the scenary was still good for enjoying and photography. Highly recommended
I always travel independently, so this was my first guided tour. Despite the weather forecast being good, I was able to book it last minute the day before. We followed the itinerary below. I personally preferred this course over other Korean-speaking tours, which is why I chose it. Sapporo Station ~ Otaru Canal (20 min) ~ Kitaichi Glass Workshop (2 hours, free time for lunch) ~ Cape Kamui (1 hour) ~ Shimamui Coast (15 min) ~ Golden Cape (40 min) ~ Sapporo Station The guide was proficient in Japanese, Chinese, and English, and provided clear explanations at each point of interest. Even though I was the only Japanese speaker, they made sure to include me. I'm not sure of the exact group size limit, but it was a relatively small group of around 10 people, which made managing the group and keeping to the schedule easy. As someone who prefers independent travel, I didn't experience any major inconvenience. Because the group was small, we used a medium-sized bus instead of a large one. I think the price was reasonable, and the prices for other Shakotan tours seemed similar without much difference. There are no public bus services, and even if there were, the transportation costs would likely be similar due to the distance. I don't have a basis for comparison as I don't know about other tours, but this tour, while not extravagant, was complete with transportation, explanations, and guidance. I met a great guide on my first guided tour and got to see the beautiful Shakotan Blue. Thank you. *Regardless of which tour you choose, please consider your attire and physical condition, as there are many uphill sections in the Shakotan tourist areas.
We don't usually participate in sightseeing tours, but this one was well worth it. Rick, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful throughout the day. We got to see so many places that we wouldn't have been able to on our own. We did not expect to love Otaru and the Music Box store as much as we did - definitely bought several souvenirs there. The rest of the itinerary was lovely as the sights were beautiful, the water was vibrant Shakotan blue, and the weather was lovely in the 70s degrees F with clear skies and sun out (our trip was early July). Definitely wear shoes you're comfortable walking and hiking a bit in. It was a very enjoyable experience, well organized, and we highly recommend it to those interested.
Thank you for signing up for this meaningful trip. This journey allowed me to see many mountains and seas, and I can only admire Hokkaido's excellent ecological preservation. I saw so many beautiful sights in my lifetime. Hide diligently introduced the characteristics of each attraction throughout the trip and perfectly managed the time for each stop. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to visit so many places today. I also want to thank the other travelers for their patience, as the fifth stop, Cape Kamui, involved a longer walk than expected. Although Hide gave us plenty of time, I was the last one back to the car, exceeding the meeting time by five minutes. On the way back, Hide even shared recommendations for Sapporo's local cuisine, which was exactly what I was hoping for.
The trip was a very enjoyable experience. The guide was able to speak mandarin,English and Japanese. The itinerary was very well planned with many beautiful places including a whisky museum! Even though there was a bit of walking, it was still very interesting and we took many beautiful photos
We generally don’t take part in group tours. We booked this tour pretty much at the last minute. It was a good call. The itinerary was very good, including both free times in the city of Otaru and the hikings at two capes. There were plenty of times allocated to enjoy all the stops. We had a good time. The tour guide, Rick, was knowledgeable and very helpful. Highly recommended.
I participated in this tour during my trip to Sapporo, and it turned out to be the most memorable experience of my Hokkaido journey! The tour was incredibly satisfying, packed with the charm of Hokkaido, from the streets of Otaru, the breathtaking panoramic views of Shakotan Cape Kamui, and the beautiful blue waters of Shimamui Coast, to the Yoichi Distillery. The Shakotan Blue sea viewed from Cape Kamui was particularly moving and became an unforgettable sight. The comfortable bus made traveling easy, and I truly believe it would be difficult to visit all these places so efficiently on my own, so I'm really glad I joined. The time spent at each spot was just right, allowing plenty of time for photos and exploration. Most importantly, our guide was kind and very knowledgeable. They shared a lot about Hokkaido's history and recommended spots, making the travel time enjoyable. Their thoughtful attention to detail made me feel completely at ease. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour not only to first-time visitors to Hokkaido but also to repeat visitors. If I come to Hokkaido again, I would definitely like to try another course. Thank you for a wonderful day! ★★★★★ More than 5/5 satisfaction!
Grace is an exceptionally experienced guide. Her command over English, Japanese, and Mandarin is great and she does her best to communicate and engage with you. Insofar as the trip is concerned, some parts may feel rushed but such is the way of tours. It does cover a broad spectrum of the must-dos in the local region. Seafood and whiskey is nothing less than exemplary, and if you have doubts on whether the views are worth it, let the pictures speak for themselves. Overall, it's a productive use of your day if you're within Sapporo.
Thank you for your flexibility in handling unexpected situations! I joined this tour because I thought its appeal was being able to access places like Cape Kamui, Shimamui Coast, and Ogon Cape on the Shakotan Peninsula, which are otherwise inaccessible without a car. My satisfaction exceeded my expectations. The transparency and blueness of the sea were more incredible than I imagined, and we visited places with beautiful views. There were also experiential elements in Otaru and Yoichi, and our guide was cheerful and very considerate. It turned out to be a very fun and memorable tour! I would definitely like to book with you again when I visit Hokkaido! Thank you for a truly wonderful trip!
This tour was so great and well organized. Grace our tour guide see to it that we get to see the "must-see" attractions,(otaru canal, music box, clock tower, kitachi glass) before letting us go on our own free time in Otaru. The tour company even treated us with Le Tao free ice cream! The itinerary was more for nature lover and just be reminded that it involved walking and trekking a bit for few minutes. But overall, it was worth it! Special thanks again to Grace our tour guide for the superb service. 😄💯
