My experience today was excellent. my sensei had practiced Kyudo for 40 years! he was very patient and understanding and made the whole experience very fun. I would recommend this experience for a light introduction to Kyudo. It was very enjoyable to learn the technique to fire the yumi. I think I will begin to practice Kyudo in my home country now as there is an official club near me! Thank you sensei!
We absolutely loved this experience. Kaz, our main instructor, and his team were the most kind and welcoming. They started by educating us on the history of the bow and arrow, basics of form and then gave us hands instruction for a few shots. Both of our first times holding a bow, and we were able to hit the bullseye within 5 shots because of their instruction! This is a great experience for families, couples or individuals.
Fantastic experience! A superb instructor who takes their time and introduces students to archery. Highly recommended, I would definitely do it again on my next visit to Kyoto!
I was so happy to finally experience Kyudo, something I’ve always admired. Thanks to the instructor’s detailed guidance, I was even able to hit the target on my first try! Through this experience, I truly felt that Kyudo is more than just a martial art about hitting a target; it is a process of mental and physical discipline. Since every movement requires delicate precision, the arrow would head in an unexpected direction if my mind drifted even for a second. On the other hand, I had the amazing experience of seeing the arrows cluster together when I stayed focused. It was a truly valuable time, just as I had expected, and this experience has made me want to start learning Kyudo seriously. I definitely want to sign up again on my next visit to Kyoto!
experience: was absolutely amazing, everyone was so kind and the owner even came to greet us. They were patient and very thorough with teaching us both culture and proper technique. safety: extremely safe and well taken care of. instructor:very thorough, kind and a great teacher. equipment: equipment was very well kept in great condition, clean and safe. location: very easy to find along the high street. Melissa and maissiah were amazing instructors and made the experience extremely enjoyable. I would highly recommend.
I really enjoyed my experience! The location was easy to find and convenient if you are in the Gion area. I was given a brief rundown on the history of Kyudo and how to go about shooting the bow, then was taken upstairs to a separate range where I received in person instruction. The Sensei was very kind and encouraging, giving me pointers that helped me get pretty good over the hour. He also helped take plenty of pictures! Would do again if i come back to Kyoto in the Future.
We had Miku guide us through traditional Japanese archery and it was such an amazing time. He took the times to explain to use how to position our body and arms and even through I didn’t hit the target often, it was super fun. 10/10
This was a great experience. The teacher was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. It was easy to learn but challenging to get consistent. Everyone was friendly and considerate. They took pictures and videos for us as well.
One of the best events you can do. Everyone is very helpfull and it was very fun. I do not remember how many shots I made, but at the end I was barely able to hold bow and arrow.
this was a fun experience! we saw some samurai archery whilst at Ueno park & decided to book ourselves an experience! they made it look easy! but our guide did a great job at explaining
