What to expect

Our cultural experience introduces the beauty and philosophy of Japanese tea culture in a calm and welcoming setting.

Before the ceremony begins, you will receive a brief introduction to machiya architecture and Kyoto lifestyle, helping you understand the cultural meaning behind the tea room and its seasonal design.

Guests are seated comfortably on chairs (no kneeling required) while a tea practitioner with over 16 years of training performs a live table-style tea preparation. Each movement and utensil is explained clearly, allowing you to appreciate the elegance and symbolism of the tea ceremony.

You will then enjoy a bowl of high-grade matcha paired with beautifully crafted Japanese sweets.
