Friendly and helpful tour guide, though her English has much Japanese accent. She has provided rich background information of each site with interactive tools like pictures and samples. She also gave some useful tips for each spot. The lunch set quality is fair, don't expect too much.

What To Expect

Venture deep into the Gokayama region to explore some fascinating countryside villages, known for their iconic steeped-roof gasshozukuri farmhouses. Enjoy the ease of hotel transfers and the help of an English speaking guide as you make your way into some of the region's remotest villages. This isn't your average group tour - the route is designed to aide your Japan sightseeing by taking you to some hard to reach locations, away from large tourist numbers. It's not a package tour - when you arrive at each location, you're given free time to explore by foot on your own. You'll visit the two World Heritage Sites of Shirakawago and Ainokura villages, which remain as beautiful examples of local folk culture. Dine on local cuisine for lunch overlooking the iconic steeped-roofs of Shirakawago's farmhouses and get clued up on local history with free time at the Gasshozukuri Minkaen Outdoor Museum.

Not good if coming from nagoya. Read before booking especially the meetng place. You should be staying in takayama, which is more than 2 hrs of train ride. Booked the tour but did not avail. ☹

Tour guides are nice and lunch was good, quite a view. However, the first spot can stay longer. Worth to join, fair price.

Worth it. Cheaper than travel by yourself using the route bus. The food is delicious. Besides, you also get some privilege to view shirakawago from the observatory.

The map “pick up point star” is not accurate. Change to location of star And I have to pick up the ticket myself at ticket center myself first, then go to the local tour meeting point. Instruction is not clear. The tour guide English is just so so. She is nice of course but sometime I don’t understand what she’s saying.
