What to expect

  • Entering the rift, what comes into view are the steep cliffs on both sides. Hundreds of millions of years of crustal movement and water erosion have cut the rocks into textures of varying depths. Looking up, the sky is compressed into a narrow line. Moving forward along the winding trail, the stream is gurgling underfoot. The clear stream hits the rocks, and the sunlight shines through the gaps in the top of the valley, casting mottled light and shadows on the water surface.
