This was an eye opener and for anyone mildly interested in the history of China a "Must Do". It's estimated that 8 million people visit this site every year and the reverence in which many Chinese people hold Mao is obvious. During our visit there were hundreds of Chinese in groups paying tribute to his memory; laying wreaths and bunches of flowers at the foot of a giant statue; bowing in respect; chanting slogans or singing revolutionary songs. Our guide, Kathy, who was born in the same town as Mao, was a font of knowledge. A visit is well worthwhile if your interest extends beyond pandas and the usual tourist traps and you would like a better understanding what makes modern day China tick.

Round-trip Transportation: Air-conditioned tour buses will be used throughout the journey. The size of the vehicle will be arranged according to the number of people to ensure one seat per person.
Scenic Area Tickets: Mao Zedong Comrade Memorial Hall [Life Exhibition Area] is closed on Mondays and will be changed to visit the [Special Exhibition Area], that is, the former Mao Zedong Comrade Relics Museum. If other scenic spots/attractions are closed and cannot be visited, no other attractions will be added, nor will any compensation be made.
Itinerary Meals: Meals are not included throughout the trip. The restaurants recommended during the trip are one of the most representative local catering institutions, aiming to promote and carry forward Hunan's food culture.
Shopping: There are no designated shopping stops throughout the trip. Each scenic spot has a shopping area, which is a basic commercial facility of the scenic spot and is not a designated shopping stop by the travel agency.
