France has some of the wealthiest wine estates that stretch from the edges of Bordeaux to Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Medoc, Graves, and Sauternes. On this tour, skip the bustling city and travel to the charming wineries in the French rurals as you discover sumptuous grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and more in three different chateaus (wine houses). After meeting with your guide in Bordeaux, you will be given the liberty to choose your winery destination: Saint-Émilion, a multi-village with some of the best Merlot and Cabernet Franc-based wines; if you're looking for Romanesque landscapes to complement your non-acidic Bordeaux wines, Pomerol is the way to go; meanwhile, Medoc boasts the most sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wines, thanks to its 10,600-hectare sole grape variety vineyards; Graves, another major red wine producer, is considered the birthplace of the ever luscious Bordeaux wines; and lastly, Satuernes, a subregional winery within Graves, plays host to the intensely sweet, white, dessert wines. A visit to this wine region includes 3 different chateaus that you can fully experience with a specialized wine tasting session, plus commentary from your guide. Along the way, you'll have some quality leisure time for personal discovery and lunch in the village. The tour ends as you're taken back to your hotel in Bordeaux.
