What To Expect

Take in breathtaking mountain views as you trek from Sagala to Paro in the picturesque Bhutan. Start your journey with a relaxing walk through blue pine and fir forests and let the winding trails take you to Khadey Gom at 3,280m for a delicious picnic. Look out onto the mountain peaks and valleys laid out below and keep your eyes sharp for a chance to spot a musk deer. Day two will take you across flower-filled meadows to the beautiful Nyingungla camp at 3,874m, where you can explore exotic plants and trees and stay on the lookout for more animal sightings. Your final hike on day three takes you to the highest point of the trip — Gung Karpo ridge at 4,000m, from where unfolds a stunning view of snow-clad mountain tops and colorful plains.

Day 1 Haa - Sagala
  • Walking distance: 5 to 6 hours
  • Camp altitude: 3,600m
  • From Talung (3,000m) to Halung Chhu through blue pine and fir forests onwards to Sagala.
  • Arrive at Chagdo Zampa (3,180m)
  • Picnic at Khadey Gom (3,280m)
  • Continue uphill to Sagala camp (3,600m)
  • Enjoy the view of Mt. Jomolhari (7,326m) and other mountain peaks
  • Trek the Sagala Pass (3,700m)
Day 2 Sagala - Nyingungla
  • Walking distance: 5 to 6 hours
  • Camp altitude: 3,874m
  • Morning trek along the ridges
  • Arrive at Nyingungla camp
  • Enjoy views of Mt. Jomolhari, Bjichu Drake, Haa valley and Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest)
Day 3 Nyingungla-Chele La Pass
  • Walking distance: 7 to 8 hours
  • Accommodation: Hotel
  • Descend along the ridges through fir and larch forest
  • Trek through the Kalila Pass (3,770m)
  • Enjoy views of Mt Jomolhari (7,326m) and Bjichu Drake (6,794m)
  • Climb up to Gung Karpo ridge at 4,000m
  • Descend through Chelela Pass

Additional Information:

  • A good level of fitness is necessary
  • Not suitable for children aged under 13 and dependent on fitness levels
  • Not suitable for those with a respiratory, cardiac, or circulatory disorder or a disability that limits mobility
  • You will be required to send a scanned copy of your passport (with 6 months validity) in order to apply for the visa - the rest of the application procedure is taken care of for you
  • Tour begins at Paro International Airport and ends at Gauwahati Airport in India or Jaigoan of India (border town to Bhutan) if by road, or Paro International Airport
  • Fees are calculated based on number of nights. For example, for a 5 day 4 night tour, you will be paying based on 4 overnight stays in Bhutan and not for the number of day

    Bhutan should be on everyone's wish list. Talk about stunning unpolluted landscapes. The tour guides were amazing, highly recommend :)
