KHAO Restaurant Ekkamai Branch (One MICHELIN Star 2023)

I spent a short getaway in Bangkok with my cousin this weekend, and our friends recommended this restaurant; booking through Klook made it super easy. They were right! This dinner turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Both my cousin and I are huge fans of mango sticky rice, and Kaho serves one of the best we’ve had; easily comparable to Ning’s famous mango stand. The staff were wonderfully friendly, and when we mentioned we had a spa appointment after dinner, they thoughtfully expedited our orders so everything flowed perfectly. I’d highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to impress on a fancy date or host a polished business dinner. It’s a gem worth experiencing!

Rating: 4 stars The Khao Chae set was delicious and refreshing. The rice was well-cooked—each grain was separated and fragrant. The chilled jasmine water was aromatic, and we could even ask for more, which was a nice touch. Since we booked via Klook, we also received a special herbal drink, which was a lovely bonus. I was going to give 5 stars, but there was a small disturbance from a fly during the meal. Fortunately, the staff handled the situation quickly . Overall, it was still a great experience with traditional Thai flavors and warm service. ⸻

The flavor leans towards Thai sour, too sour, it doesn't suit my taste or my mom's. This set meal allows you to choose four dishes, let the staff recommend, the two I chose myself were too sour.

I made a reservation through klook and had a course with wine for Friday dinner. From the menu for groups B to D, you can choose 1-2 dishes from each group. I chose catfish, and it was a fun experience as it came out in a way I never imagined. The food and hospitality of the staff were excellent, and it's a restaurant that you'll want to come back to again and again. Even though I can barely speak Thai or English, they made suggestions by marking the menu. Most of the customers were East Asian, including Japanese and Chinese. The restaurant is on a road with no sidewalks and a lot of traffic, so I think it's better to come by taxi.

The food and service were okay, nothing exceptional. I don't think this meet the standard of a 1 star restaurant.

The ambiance is stylish, and the service staff are very friendly. Highly recommend the tom yum kung with river prawns. Other food is okay.
