Experience miniature brick art in a brick town near Sapporo
・A photo of your brick art will be displayed alongside your country’s flag for a year. ・A contest is held once a year, and the winner will receive a postcard made of Hokkaido washi paper (EZO-WASHI). ・You can experience the culture and joy of art making. ・After your creation, there will be a café service of coffee and sweets from Ebetsu.
What to expect
Experience brick art in Ebetsu, a brick town about 30 minutes from Sapporo. Bricks have been made in Ebetsu for over 130 years, and there are over 400 brick buildings in the city today. Three brick factories are still in operation, and Ebetsu is one of Japan’s leading brick production areas, accounting for over 20 percent of the brick market in Japan. Ebetsu bricks have also been recognized as a Hokkaido Heritage Site. Use 100 miniature bricks to create brick art inside a brick building! You can take a photo of the finished product and take it home with you. In winter, we recommend joining the experience from 4:00 p.m. and visiting the “Machiakari Ebetsu” illuminations in front of Ebetsu Station.
