What to expect
- Huangshan Scenic Area is located in the southern part of Anhui Province, China. It is one of China's famous Five Great Mountains and a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site.
- The beauty of Huangshan is a masterpiece of nature. It is famous for its "奇松 (oddly-shaped pines), 怪石 (grotesque rocks), 云海 (sea of clouds), and 温泉 (hot springs)."
- 奇松 (Oddly-shaped Pines): Most of them grow on peaks with altitudes of 800 to 1800 meters, rooted in dangerous cliffs, standing on the peaks and ridges, growing out of rocks, vigorous and upright, with gnarled branches. The most famous include the Welcoming Pine, Farewell Pine, Black Tiger Pine, and Twin Dragon Pine.
- 怪石 (Grotesque Rocks): These grotesque rocks have unique shapes and endless interest. Some look like rare birds and animals, some like various characters, and some like various objects. The most famous grotesque rocks are the Flying-Over Rock, Monkey Gazing at the Sea, and Immortal晒靴 (Drying Boots).
- 云海 (Sea of Clouds): The sea of clouds in Huangshan is magnificent, especially after rain or in the early morning, when the clouds and mists are swirling, like a fairyland. Admiring the sea of clouds on the top of the mountain is like being in the midst of heaven and earth, refreshing the heart and mind.
- 温泉 (Hot Springs): Huangshan is rich in hot spring resources, with excellent water quality, and has high medical and recreational value. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery while soaking in the hot springs and feel the gift of nature.

Imagine colossal pillars, twisted pines clinging defiantly to rock faces, and clouds that don't float above you but flow through the valleys below, dissolving and reforming in minutes. A day trip would be a frantic, exhausting tease. Staying overnight lets you experience the magical sunrise/sunset and explore at a better pace.

Tour Guide Chen from Huangshan is diligent, responsible, and experienced; while Tour Guide Fang from Hongcun is an excellent speaker and very knowledgeable.
The actual tour differs from the itinerary. Two local tour guides took us up Huangshan mountain. It is fully guided instead of free and easy. We had to pay an extra RMB580 per pax to cover all our expenses including 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 2 cable car ride and 2 train ride. It is well worth the extra money. Rooms in Xihai hotel on Huangshan mountain comes with window and Anchi hotel at Huangshan city overlook the river. On our own, the tour package price can only pay for the 3 nights accommodation. A word of warning, if you are not physically fit or has slight mobility issue, avoid Huangshan mountain. One member has knee problem and the guide helped to carry his backpack up the mountain. Overall, a value for money tour package.
The unique scenery of Huangshan is really beautiful. The accommodation environment is clean and sanitary. I am satisfied.

Scenic Spot Ticket Discounts
- Until December 31, 2025, visitors aged 60 (inclusive) and above will receive a 50% discount on Huangshan and Hongcun tickets, and visitors aged 65 (inclusive) and above will receive free Huangshan and Hongcun tickets.
- Until December 31, 2025, international visitors will receive a 50% discount on Huangshan and Hongcun tickets (including visitors from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan).
- Visitors aged 6 to 18 (inclusive) will receive a 50% discount on Huangshan and Hongcun tickets.
- The above ticket discount policies only apply to the first entrance ticket of the scenic area and do not include other sightseeing and entertainment items such as ropeway, boat rides, scenic area transfers, and secondary consumption items within the scenic area.
- Scenic spot tickets are already at travel agency discounted prices. Huangshan Scenic Area half-price discount is 95 RMB, and free ticket discount is 190 RMB; Hongcun Scenic Area half-price discount is 15 RMB, and free ticket discount is 70 RMB; Huangling Scenic Area discount for those aged 65 and above is 60 RMB. All ticket discount differences will be refunded uniformly after the itinerary ends.
