Iriomote Island Mangrove SUP or Canoe Half-Day Experience (Okinawa)

This time, I departed from Ishigaki Island and participated in a mangrove kayaking tour on Iriomote Island. After researching various travel agencies, I booked it through Klook, and it was operated by a local travel agency. It's about a 10-minute drive to the river → Equipment distribution + Instruction. We kayaked into the mangroves for about 20 minutes before turning back (it wasn't tiring at all and very easy to pick up 🤣). The single-trip experience isn't long, making it perfect for a half-day itinerary. There's a simple restroom on-site where you can change clothes. 👌 👕 Recommended Attire: Long-sleeved shirt (for sun and mosquito protection) Shorts (they will definitely get wet) Hat (it gets very sunny) Remember to bring a change of clothes. 🗣 Language: English/Japanese is available, but communicating through gestures is perfectly fine. 👉 My 63-year-old dad completed it successfully! 🤣 P.S. You'll need to purchase your Iriomote Island ferry tickets separately (round-trip tickets are not included). Very fun and informative tour! The views were amazing, and it was very cool to get to see mangroves up close! The tour guides were very kind and helpful. My partner and I speak Japanese, so that helped a lot, but they did their best to explain everything in English to non-Japanese speakers. They took pictures and videos for us as well, and there's even an option to take a shower after the tour, which is very nice as it's easy to get dirty (and sweaty) while kayaking in the muddy water. Definitely recommend!

It was wonderful. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. A true change of scenery. Our guide was Jun Satou, and he was exceptional! He gave us a lot of information and was super kind and pleasant!

The tour guide is nice and helpful. although he is not good in English, he tried his best to explain and talk.

The coach was excellent! It was our first time trying stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and we picked it up right away. Their English was also very fluent, making communication smooth and easy! I highly recommend this experience.

There was no English speaking guide available, even though this was advertised and the reason we booked with this tour operator. Using GoogleTranslate is not a replacement. They did not make any effort to tell us what was happening nor did they have English information available on paper. The kayak tour was too short. If you’re coming from Ishigaki, this tour is not recommended: you are traveling longer to get at the meetingpoint than the kayak tour lasts. We were a little disappointed to say the least.
