What to expect

Zig Zag your way up to the fastest route to the summit of Table Mountain! This is the same stone path used before the cableway was built. Easily the oldest and quite amiable trailhead, Platteklip makes an effortless trek to the summit compared to the other Table Mountain routes. Begin your ascent by departing from the Tafelberg road until you reach the contour path. Once you're at the V-section at the top of the gorge, a spectacular panorama of Cape Town – look back at postcard views of Table Bay, Robben Island, and downtown. Prepare to be enraptured once you've reached the summit, the highlands look just as stunning from the iconic face and highest point of the mountain, and the ragged cliffs in its upper reaches. This is the iconic way up the 7th Natural Wonder of the World. Enjoy time on the summit with many viewpoints and photo opportunities, grab a bite to eat or drink at the cafe on top and experience the cableway back down the mountain.
